It's classic nirvana fallacy. The current solution is not a perfect one so people criticize it in favor of a theoretically better one even though they cannot articulate what that solution is. If you ask them, they'll respond with vague platitudes but nothing of substance. "Well, there has to be a better way," or "If I was in charge, I'd make sure we didn't get the wrong people." Nothing will be tangible in their recommendation but you always get to take the moral high ground when you can spit out hypothetical solutions instead of real ones.
You forgot to throw in a misunderstood bible verse in an attempt to try to shame people who don't agree with them.

Sounds to me like asylum lying. But thats just my opinion.

People want mass detentions and deportations, and with that comes disruptions to everyday life for everyone. Time will tell if all of the promised benefits are true or not.
time will tell if having less people here illegally sucking off the taxpayer tit, over crowding schools, causing housing issue will be a benefit?

I stated I know my opinion is the minority. I thought it was a bad idea then, and do now. Now that said, one bad idea was better than a whole campaign platform of bad ideas Kamala had.
Do you have anything of substance to add on how you would've liked to have seen the immigration issue addressed?

However, it makes me wonder if ICE has too much leeway.

What we also know is that he presented his government-issued identification but did not have his Social Security card with him at the time. Within hours, that documentation was produced, along with paperwork showing he had been granted asylum and was lawfully in the immigration process. Yet days later he’s still being detained.”
I’m kind of surprised we don’t have a way to quickly resolve issues with the detainment process.
When the clueless finally get a clue.

That too.

Should we just accept the fact that millions upon millions of non-citizens are roaming our streets and communities disrupting our normal way of life?
How is your life disrupted now more than it was disrupted before January 6, 2021?

How do you propose we address the mass immigration issue if deportations are a bad idea?
1) Lock down the border to stop the influx into the country;
2) Target people with criminal records; and
3) Revise employment visas to better suit the economic needs of modern America, meaning limit H-1B while expanding H-2B and H-2A.
The modern approach at the Monroe Doctrine is also going to fix a lot of the issues as well, but that is a generational fix if it can be stuck with.

The most obvious answer to this for many is finding a job
Over 80% of all jobs since 2020 have gone to foreign-born workers
A record was just set of 105 million Americans not in the labor force (NILF)
We have reached a record of Americans classified as long-term unemployed despite seeking work
But yea, man, your feelings trump all of that data.

That's a terrible argument and not logical at all. By that logic, if I haven't been hit by a speeding car, I can't really say that Georgia football has a problem with reckless driving. No one has stolen my identity, I suppose identity theft isn't a problem to be addressed.

1) The border already is much more secure than it was
2) Again, vague. How are you gonna do it? Sounds great on paper, "we'll just target the bad people." How you gonna make that happen?
3) More vague platitudes. What does that mean? How are you going to do that? What do you mean by better?

A little disruption for long term improvement is very acceptable, imo.

i agree with all of this, but all should target anyone that is expired visa and anyone here illegally

Tons of things are more expensive now because of the amount of illegals here
are you going to sit here and act like illegals dont drive the cost of housing up, dont take public resources, dont cause ghetto type issues?
I agree your points should be priorty but you cant name a single thing that illegals help with
but im jaded and against all immigration from every country for a period of 5-10 years and that includes all visa types but H2A and any H1B visa app should include a minimum salary of 1 million. I also think every current H1B visa applicant should be reviewed closely
there are gas stations all over this state that the owners got a government grant and is using the visa process to bring in family members to be clerks at the store.
dont get Goldennugget started on the Indians in the Tech world in dallas.

It's such a childish and entitled argument that they made. I want things to be great but I don't want it to impact or alter a single apsect of my life to get there. I want to be fit but working out is disruptive. I want to make more money but a 2nd job would encroach on my lifestyle. It's entitlement to it's core.

If this “source” is a liberal white woman, I’m ignoring this completely until more information is available.

Why did he qualify for asylum?
What country is he from?

It just goes to show how unreasonable people are that I got downvotes for saying I want to see all the facts first.

Trump is on pace to have the most H-1B approvals of any president, more than Obama and Biden. Mass round ups of illegals doesn't change that. That is a vastly bigger issue to address.

Again that is a real issue, but to simply say "mass deportations will fix this" is foolish. There are more issues at play than simply "they took our jobs." Trump's push since 2015 to nearshore jobs and bringing manufacturing back is a good example of a tangible step that should lower that number. Another thing is the work requirements in the OBBB last summer to receive some benefits.

Scapegoating all of the countries problems on a group of people is as feelings based an argument as you can get.

Well, even if true, at least we know who those people are and they did it " legally". We have no fricking clue who all Biden let in this country illegally. Had they not circumvented our laws there would be no roundups and mass deportation, and you would have to find something else to be a pussy about.

Trump tried to slow down H1B with a $100K fee, but a liberal judge stopped it.
Congress has the exclusive authority to completely eliminate or permanently halt the H-1B visa program. Not the POTUS

How is it going to hurt the issue, though? Let me guess, you buy into the 'they are only doing jobs Americans don't want to do' narrative

Did you know that so far FL and TX have each saved nearly a billion per year thanks to fewer ESL students in schools? A billion each that can be used on American students or a billion less in property taxes that each state needs to operate. You can look at it either way especially since FL is trying to eliminate property taxes.
The point is, that a ton of our problems and waste of tax money and resources are directly due to that 'group of people' and only an idiot would act like that's not the case.

What are your thoughts on this situation?
Sounds like it really sucks for this HS kid and he very well could be an innocent party in this entire situation. Either his parents did not do everything they were supposed to do and his situation changed, or ICE is flexing their muscles too hard. I suspect it's the earlier as has been the case every time someone runs to the media with one of these sob stories.
She runs with "From what we’ve been told"... as her defense. The reality is that they can only be told this information from one source (friends & family of the kid) who have a biased objective. ICE and the government rarely ever speak on these issues as they are active investigations.

One way that could have made this process quicker was if Congress would have approved the budget Trump wanted in his first term that would have provided more financial resources to hire more Judges and help expedite the processes. But they could not do that as it would mean more "kids in cages" and he is "separating families".

Exactly, that's a great thing.

2) Again, vague. How are you gonna do it? Sounds great on paper, "we'll just target the bad people." How you gonna make that happen?
ICE has already expanded the 287(g) agreements they have around the country, including more and more with jails. Homan likes that approach, and pushes for it. Withholding federal funds from sanctuary cities is another tool they can, and are actively, using. It's not "vague" it's actively happening.
quote:
3) More vague platitudes. What does that mean? How are you going to do that? What do you mean by better?
Not vague at all. The H-1B visa system is the most abused visa we have. You know what America doesn't have? A shortage of qualified, educated, and capable young people to work in tech. There is no labor shortage to be supplemented by fraudulent foreign workers. You know what America does have a shortage of? Workers willing to work in the heat doing manual labor. The solution is to force Americans off of government assistance and put them to work. But until that pipedream happens, eliminating the seasonality and cap to the H-2B and expanding qualifying jobs for H-2A would go a long way in stopping working age men coming to the US illegally to work because they have a valid, although temporary, path to do it.
The State Department quietly added a requirement that for non-immigrant visa interviews the applicant is asked asylum screening questions. If they answer affirmatively to the questions they are denied visas, if they answer negatively but then apply for asylum it destroys credibility. That right there is a way more tangible step to correcting issues than indiscriminate traffic stops.
