Iberville Pres Ready to go to War Against EBR over Flooding

Some strong words from the Iberville Parrish Pres for EBR and, more specifically, U Club, Lexington, CCLA, and Santa Marie. He done drew the line in the sand and threw down the gauntlet!
So is there any other alternative “fix” that would benefit both parishes?

He's right. EBR developed their side of Bayou Manchac w/o concerns for Ascension and Iberville Parishes. Too bad Bayou Manchac couldn't be used for a relief valve for the Amite during periods of high water, but that's no longer an option.

JMO is a lot of things, but stupid he is not.
He may not be highly educated or refined, but he's one of the few elected officials in this state who has done his job well.
And I can tell you from experience, the man can negotiate a contract with the best of them I've dealt with a few state (dept) commissioners, some of which had a shiny J.D. on the wall, and they were all completely inept compared to him.
I'm not necessarily a fan, but I respect him on the other side of a conference table.

I've done work for Iberville Parish as well and I agree. I've even been through contract negotiations with him. He usually gets what he wants.

I know Mitchell very well.
He is a very good man but powerful politician.
I like to be on the good side than the bad side of Mitchell “bear”.
Iberville Parish has more money in their pockets than EBRP due to all the oil revenue from the land in the spillway.
He would beat the ignorant EBRP Metro Council and SWB all day long.
If each of us on the OT took a contract with Iberville Parish such as solid Waste or road contract. Then we took one with EBRP. You will find holes in the EBRP contract. Iberville Parish you will not. You will also fine he enforces his contracts fiercely. The man is not dumb.

There's more wealth and connections on one street in CCLA than in all of Iberville and Ascension combined. The rich folk over there will get what they want. That said--CCLA is high, it's UClub that would see the effects most likely.

It isn't just Iberville at risk. Significant portions of EBR are as well. Unchecked development by crooked developers has vast areas of the Southeatern portion of the parish at risk to future flooding. The joke of a planning commission and city council line their pockets and make sure they and their family are on high ground

Nobody that built in the Spanish Lake basin can say shite about flooding. They built in a drained swamp and want to know why it's flooding?

Rando, would you agree in that area, Mitchell has similar connections as, say an Edwin Edwards or Harry Lee? For those not familiar with the area, Mitchell's father Sheriff Jessel Ourso had similar notoriety as Buford Pusser.
You have any good ole stories about ole Sheriff Jessel? I recall the one about him driving a Union steward from Chicago across the parish line to WBR, telling him to get out and don't ever come back to Iberville.

Never ever underestimate the power of a local political boss with power consolidated under him. When it gets to the court system he will hand it over to lawyers, but don't think for a second that he isn't priming everything behind the scenes. Meanwhile EBR is too big and splintered to get a cohesive approach together. Mitch is getting the money in the right hands as we speak.
