don’t think any of the models completely “nailed” it like they did Ida/ Laura.
But did they really “nail” Ida… they originally had it going through Thibodaux and BR.. It went through LaPlace up 55…

That’s a nice boat
Wonder why the guy wouldn’t want to remove it water side?

Probably doesn’t have a trailer for it and lifting it over the house allows him to have it trailered for repairs.

Yes they did. It hit within 25 miles of the original prediction and got intensity dead on over 2 days out.
Remember how some places were going to get 40 inches of rain from Ian? The models thought it would just now be getting out of Florida. I’m not blaming the models at all but they just didn’t know what to do with Ian when it hit the strong cool front.

Got to love DeSantis: DeSantis on looters

This is my buddies backyard.
I’m envious of how nice that looks after a flood. LOL
When we flood from either surge or rivers, it’s some nasty looking crap after.

Parents house survived amazingly well, considering it’s a mile south of the river and 3 miles east of the Sanibel causeway.
Haven’t seen the inside but it looks like the waterline just stopped at the door jam
Tree through the cage, but the cage is still standing
Waterline was about 1.5 feet up the garage door but no cars in there and the garage entrance to the house is up a couple steps. So feeling good about a dry house.

Ian is dead and I got my first bit of snow this morning. Positive developments all around.

With more and more satellite images coming in, it is clear that wind isn't a problem for most in Florida now, at least for newer construction.
So, it is back to the old adage, "Hide from wind, run from water." Or, as I say, if you don't have gills you should probably leave the surge prone areas.

Because he would have to get a barge to put it on, since it would likely sink without one.

I was checking Breckenridge Cams and peak 6 cam has a bit of a bee issue.

Loveland and A-Basin looks like they got dumped on.

WTF kinda roofing they use in Florida??? Looking at the recon photos from the area, it seems like roof damage is minimal in the entire area. With those winds, they should have plywood rooves errywhere. Does not compute.
I'm sure most homes are flooded from the surge, but every freakin roof looks pristine.

And most of the structures are intact. Flooded probably but they are still standing. Even on Sanibel...
FL building codes are legit.
