SoHo? Baw the majority of South Tampa will be flooded in a worst case scenario situation with a stalled storm and major rain event.

My old house in Palma Ceia was built up pretty high and had water 3’ deep on the road for that 2015 flood.

May cost $10 billion up front, but they need a wall along I-275 in the bay with flood gates under the Sunshine Skyway to mitigate storm surge into Tampa proper. Expensive, but early estimates on a storm that hasn’t even hit yet are $175 billion.

St Pete Clearwater airport closes at 1 pm Tuesday. My flight lands at 12:30 at the Tampa airport. Hoping and praying I don’t get trapped in ATL for 3-4 days if they decide to shut down early. I have a wife and 3 young kids I need to get back home to.

I’ve always sent good vibes and prayers for my TX/LA/MS/AL families during these times. Say a prayer for me please!

Tampa airport is closing at 5. Delta has cancelled everything from Atlanta to Tampa starting at 2:30p. Everything before that is showing on time

Good tweet here from Brandon Black regarding Ian's current state:

Nowcast time. Earlier it looked like #Ian went through a trochoidal wobble to the north. It went jsut east of the current track but recent radar from key west certainly has a strong northwest component and seems to be moving back towards the forecast point. Little moves matter.

I, too, am better at storms with land under them.

Don't even want to see my homeowners insurance next year. I live about seven minutes from the ocean on the Atlantic side.

I wonder if that impacted the eastward shift of the 18z Euro?

If this thing devastated Tampa it has some national security implications with the CENTCOM HQ being at McDill.

It is literally going to eat Florida.

400 miles wide and stalling out.

Dang right, been thinking this for years. I’m pretty safe in Apollo Beach, but I would still pay for this (bonded, or otherwise) whatever it takes.
