I was behind a car at a traffic light near LSU back in the day when the male passenger literally hauls off and hits the female driver square in the face twice.
It was a an old beat up car with obvious well fair demographics; however, I sat on the horn and when I got out the car it took off.
Regardless of the occupants, I wasn’t going to sit and watch a women get pummeled like that. Maybe it was stupid but I couldn’t.

I got involved in one many years ago gassing up to go on a fishing trip.... as soon as I subdued the guy, the girl jumped on my back and starting beating on me and scratching me.
the cops that showed up told me... I did the right thing.. but this aint the first time he beat her and won't be the last... next time walk away....

A few years ago my brother drove up on a guy beating the hell out of a young woman on the side of the road....He pulled over and threw the guy off of her and backed him off, and almost got stabbed for his troubles- by the woman! Another passerby pulled over and helped him get total control of them- just as the police showed up.
It's a judgment call. Most of us want to "do the right thing". But you never know when the woman you're rushing in to help is equally worthless to the guy she's getting touched up by. This was the case here- crackheads with lengthy records.
Just be careful out there, fellas.

I would tell most civilians that are not armed. Don’t get involved, call the police and leave. It’s not worth helping the woman and the man goes insane and shoots at you.

When I was in high school, I was parked at the Texaco on the corner of 98 and Gulf Shore Drive (the Holiday Isle road) in Destin. Heard a commotion and see a woman get thrown out of a pickup truck at the red light. She is topless and wearing cutoff jean shorts, and ran straight to my truck and jumped in the front seat. Her nose was all bloody and she was crying and talking about getting her out of there, but all I could do was look at her tits. My buddy who was in the store got quite the surprise when he walked out and there was a topless woman in his seat. There was an off duty cop pumping gas who saw it all and ended up coming over, turns out she was a prostitute

A friend of mine saw a Mexican dude dragging a screaming, crying Mexican girl by her ponytail in a Walmart parking lot. A screaming baby was in the car.
He intervenes and gets into a fight with the guy. He (my friend)is a jujitsu guy and easily handled the hombre but the guy pulled a knife and stabbed him a couple of times. Miracle it missed vital organs and arteries.
Clincher: Both Mexicans were illegals and the dude had felony warrants out for his arrest.
