I agree. It’s especially bad for people that grew up with a parent always nagging about finishing their food

I think these huge portions create bad eating habits and make people think that they need more food than they really do.

It also doesn’t help that the food items they usually go overboard on is cheap carbs. Really throws off macro ratios for people that don’t understand them

I embrace whatever trashiness level this is deemed, but unless it’s a sandwich or a buffet or something, I’ve probably taken home leftovers 90% of the time I’ve dined out in my adult life. I don’t give quite as much of a shite now, but in my twenties when I was broke and trying to stay fit, I would ask for the to go box to be brought out with my meal. Put half in the box and set it aside, then enjoy the rest. Stretched 1 meal into 2 and kept me from getting full as all frick. Win/win.

Take home leftovers for another meal.

Leave the excess food there if you don't want to eat it again.

Go to restaurants which offer small plates.

Order appetizers.

Don't eat lunch out. Bring your own. You can still leave the office at lunch.

Why don't any of these options work for you?

All of those work for me and I do all of that but I'd still prefer a smaller portion.

I do recognize that it's pretty much the textbook definition of a first-world problem though.

You're right. Disgusting. Abhorrent. Detritus in food form.

Where does a man need to avoid so as to not encounter said taco?

If you had a brain you’d realize that’s not his point. He’s directing the issue to the general population.

And the point that it makes more sense to pay less for an actual single human portion than to pay more for a multi human portion that you have to take home, over eat, or throw away.

Can you honestly say this is something you would order and enjoy....it looks like a fricking nightmare to eat. Unless that is you don't mind looking like a hog for 30 minutes in public

It is easier to just slop more food on the plate and raise the price than make a quality product. Think of the American auto industry as example.

I like to get out of the office for lunch but damn all these places serve huge portions. It makes trying to stay slim/lose weight so much more difficult. You have to throw the extra food away or take it to go. The trend needs to move from huge portions back to normal size portions and up charge the people who want more.

Most of the restaurants i go to offer small plates and such, but then again I don't go to shitty chains and places for fat people.

I’m fine with the portions at dinner, but I wish more places had lunch size portions (with smaller prices).

....is that at abuelitas in bernalillo new Mexico?

Because they have a taco served in an 14 inch sopapilla that is awesome.

It took me 400 miles to eat it.

You ever been to Italy? Their portions are much smaller and it's easy to see why Americans are so fat.

They also smoke 3 packs of cigarettes a day and walk everywhere

Ask for a to-go box when the food comes and put half of it away. Have some self control? I love big portions because I know I will get at least two meals out of it so the check doesn’t seem so bad.

And if places began cutting portions in half, which many could and still be a decent amount of food, do you genuinely believe they will cut the price in half? They won’t. The cost per portion will just go up.

I wish restaurants had more/better healthy options available but I’m ok with my own portion control and bringing left overs back to the office or home.
