The whole event was stupid. Her moves were no more stupid than the other performers’ moves. She just looked like a 36 y/o doing them instead of a 16 y/o.

The “readers added context” stuff on Twitter says;

This is a misconception. The host city is allowed 5 different, additional sports to be included in the games. Paris added breakdancing as well as surfing, skateboarding, sport climbing, and kayak.
The LA Olympic committee opted not to have breaking and instead will have baseball/softball, cricket, flag football, lacrosse and squash. This decision was made well in advance of Breaking premiering at the Paris Olympics.
