Seriously. I just got a reminder in why I don't go to the store on the 1st or 15th.

Not a problem if you shop somewhere that doesn't accept EBT.

Several months ago, our white guilt activists were saying Calandro's was racist because they didn't accept EBT but never realized that, by saying that, they're saying that pretty much everyone on food stamps is black...which they would also say is a racist thing to say...

That's part of the reason why I shop at Calandro's fairly often

They will steal you blind. Especially the ones who go out of their way to gain your trust.

I'm more of a Calvin's man, but that's mostly just a function of geography.

I love the Calandro's at the corner of Perkins and Siegen Lane. Their garlic buttered sliced toasted bread that they bake onsite is addictive.

I just watched a story on channel 2 about the city councilwoman of that area taking for ever to find a store that simply had bread

So the north Baton Rouge locations of Hi Nabor, Piggly Wiggly, Wal Mart, Family Dollar, Shoppers Value, Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS, or Dollar General were all out of bread?

bullshite.

Also, Tony's Seafood is awesome. I'm sure she doesn't mention that.

The bigger grocery stores are offering the service of ordering and paying online, then setting a time to pick up the groceries. Your store could be 100% this, eliminating customers going inside and stealing all your profits.

You sure? A while back I drove by the Save A Lot grocery store at the corner of Evangeline and N Foster Drive and it looked like a bombed out place you'd see on the news in Gaza Strip.

What do black people eat if they don't have grocery stores?

This reminds me of lord of the rings where they said no plants would grow in mordor

Why do hood types destroy their own neighborhoods? It makes no sense to me. You can be poor and still be tidy and neat

Another huge problem no one has addressed in this thread is the hiring pool. I haven’t been to North BR but from what I’ve read I doubt it’s bursting at the seams with highly motivated, customer service oriented individuals that possess a sunny disposition and a can do attitude.

Just an educated guess on my part

I say go for it. Payoff could be big. If you can get a crackhead selling bootleg CD's killed in front of the store by the police, profits will soar 400% for at least six months to a year with free media exposure.

Are you going to have a $4.99 eight piece dark meat special?

Wicker is looking to create an urban economics summit where people in the community, city administrators and developers can get together and talk about ways to bring more grocery stores to the area.

More meetings, boards, councils, task forces, summits, seminars, action teams, advisory groups, and most importantly...STUDIES!

But seeing how many local stores sell alcohol, she'd like some additional rules. “We have to have in place that constitutes a grocery store versus a liquor store. Because when you walk in, all of the shelving space, all of the freezer space is liquor. They have to go to the back to get bread,” said Wicker. The Baton Rouge North Economic Development District told WBRZ they are aware of this problem. They're currently working with the Mayor's Office and BRAC to find the best location for a grocery store in the area.

So not only does the city need to dictate where stores go, but they also have to regulate what they sell and where it's placed in the store.

These people need big brother to wipe their asses for them.

Are they are going to offer a financial incentive package for a company to build a grocery store?

I guarantee it'll be a city-backed loan that will default within 5 years
