All of that being said, be careful whom you choose to purchase from. There are borderline zero regulations is my understanding.

Delta 8 and Delta 9 are derived from Hemp therefore it's legal. If it would be derived from the Marijuana plant that would be illegal. It's a loophole, but before you try it just know that if you are randomly tested by your employer for THC, this will show up.

They drug test my cousin when he goes to get his fibromyalgia medicine to make sure he isn’t doing any other drugs. The only thing he can legally smoke now is spice

Delta-9 THC is the "main" THC in marijuana.
When hemp was legalized under the 2018 Farm Bill, they set the legal threshold for whether something is "hemp" or "marijuana" at 0.3% Delta-9 THC by volume.
This created a loophole where delta-8 became legalized and delta-9 became legalized as long as it's manufactured from weakly psychoactive hemp with 0.3% delta-9 in origin.
So pretty much manufactured edibles/drinks made from processed hemp are legal, and marijuana flower is not.

They get away with it by changing the molecule a miniscule amount and then suddenly it's not the "THC" that is federally regulated.
Literally everyone wants it available for purchase everywhere except hardcore holy rollers.
So they've found a way to sneak it in there and let people adapt slowly.
THC is legal af nationwide, and very accessible to legally purchase and consume. Will still fail you on work drug tests, too.

This is not true. Delta-9 THC is the "real" THC, it is natural, and it is extracted from hemp through a legal loophole, see post above.

Since we are talking about trashy ways to get a high, what does Kratom actually do? I met a guy the other day who claimed to have been addicted to it, but it seems like a legal thing sold at gas stations.

Ah ha. Well, isn't the federally legal amount still the .3% range, and delta9 is far more potent? I wonder how they loophole the potency?
