The damage is already way done. In fact, the longer we all stay at home, the worse it's going to be. The experts are now saying that the recession that we're about to hit with will be worse than 2008.

Give them an inch and they take a mile...that’s why. Power can’t help itself once it gets a taste of blood.

Because the politicians know more than you and I.

ETA: Just to be clear, I was being completely sarcastic.

John Bel is cutting off his nose to spite his face. He's getting federal aid by prolonging the stay at home order. But the longer we go now, the worse the state budget will be. There will have to be MASSIVE cuts to balance it out. He's already said as much. But hey, he got that federal funding for now. Nevermind the fact that he's gonna end up having to offset four times that amount later.

It's like quitting a solid job that pays just under $3,000 a paycheck for making a quick $5,000 once over 1 week.

Because leftists are hoping for deaths and ruined economic conditions so they can attempt to somehow tie this to Trump in November. That was their only hope when they realized that imbecile they are nominating was the best their party could offer.

They want to head into November with a bunch of republicans on record saying that they don’t care if X amount of people die, the economy is more important, etc... they want those sound bytes.

Most are probably sitting in a warehouse in NY waiting to be sold by NY to someone else.

Flatten the Curve has been standard procedure for every epidemic for 100 years. Did you want unchecked growth? An economy can't function with hundreds of thousands dead and millions ill.

Has any governmental body (outside of maybe Sweden) articulated the plan?

this is focused primarily on the US (federal and state) but the subject makes it clear that international governments are also included

so, uh, what's the, uh, plan?

yes i understand we need 20M tests/month to test/trace to deal with acute outbreaks, but that's a mitigation strategy and not a total strategy for how society is going to deal with this pandemic

outside of a vaccine, what the hell is the plan for society?

The government won't set a goal because there is no way of meeting any goal they set.

They have nothing to gain by outright saying we will live with this virus until there is a vaccine. They cannot tell the american public that we will have deaths everyday and we have to accept that. Thus the goal posts are constantly being moved around.
