Confiscating phones from students was common in the 2000s if you were caught having it out in class.

How will your boy communicate with his teacher who is sending him dirty pics?

How did I imply rules don’t apply to him? I send him to an all-boys school and they’re hawked like crazy…I can’t even imagine having gone to an all-boys school. Sounds fricking terrible.

Buy a $20 AirTag - problem solved. Tell him not to be a dipshitnwith the phone.

You can probably trade the phone for a suspension for him. I mean it will show you are unfit to raise children and can never be taken seriously again but most schools with this policy will release the phone under the condition the kid is suspended

Will the air tag track his speed and location via a phone signal? Guess I’ll go pick one up.

IDK how a school can keep a kid’s phone for a week. It’s how we (my wife really) keep track of his location, how fast he drives, when he’s on the road…

I guess they’re supposed to turn in their phone to the office each morning…and my son has not and does not…so yea, give him Saturday school or beat him, I don’t care, but it’s odd to take something we pay for and utilize for ‘safety’ purposes…to punish him.
Strange if something bad happened…and we couldn’t respond.
What's odd is someone dear facebooking online instead of handling it with the school like an adult.

Tell your kid to stop playing on his phone at school.

I think I've identified the issue. Teach him to follow the rules or teach him to not get caught. I'm sure the consequences were laid out to him very plainly.

Maybe talk to your husband about it.
Here is a little factoid…. Teenagers survived.. and yes even thrived.. prior to the widespread use of the cellular phone.
My god.. there are 17 year olds who are being tracked like tagged bald eagles now with check ins every half hour.
17-18 year olds knew how to jet nitrous systems, adjust timing, and speed shift an actual 5 speed when I was that age. Now they sit at their friends house and watch Disney plus as their parents track them like NORAD.
Now these soft arse dipshits can’t change a damn tire or check their own oil.

I wish more schools did this, or told students to put their damn phones down and pay attention.

Exactly and the OP had to sign an agreement to this policy at the beginning of the year and is still wanting to know why his kid is being held accountable

Why do you need to track his location and speed? Quit being helicopter parents and allow Junior to figure out life for himself. He'll be better off in the long run, as will you

We used to go to the camp or roam the GOM for a couple of weeks without a phone. In our teens. Your wife could not have survived in those times.

It’s odd that you think this is odd.
Put an air tag in his car and call it a day.

Our school keeps it until end of day the first time and students can pick up their phone before going home.
After the first time, the parents have to go to the school to pick it up. How long it stays there is up to the parents. The point is to make the, aware of the issue and inconvenience them so they address it at home.

Go up there and get the phone from the school.
This. The point of needing a cell phone for safety is irrelevant. They took his property and won’t give it back. Go to the school and get it. They will give it back.
Otherwise, just take their phone from them.

You all are spying on your son and upset when a school confiscates a phone?
