Oh believe me it effects you directly, the retailer does not eat the cost of shrinkage, they pass it right on down to the customers.
We pay around 10% more to cover shoplifting.

I worked at a Winn Dixie as a teenager and caught a pile of shoplifters. We had to keep eyes on them until they passed the registers, then the manager was waiting by the door and detained them and brought them into the office. Police came and did their thing.

It never ends.
The trades that want "only cash" to do framing, electrical work for you, the stylist that only takes cash, hell even the dermatologist that only takes cash for laser treatments, all that uncollected tax ultimately affects us as well.
A lot of folks don't have a problem with it.
