Cast.
I was responding to Verlander saying this guys life is ruined because cops lied.
Do you think his life is ruined because the cops lied to the citizens around them? Remember, he didn't lie on the actual police report and they have the video of this incident.
I'm saying no, his life isn't ruined because the cops lied. And you actually probably agree with me if going by your post I'm responding to.

You're under arrest .
Stop resisting.
What am I being arrested for?
Resisting arrest.

If he had just turned around like they asked, they would've eventually found out they got the wrong guy.

this, IMO, would be the easiest and smartest way to go about it. You have the kid in a vulnerable position. Asking the question in this manner is not going to escalate the situation. And you avoid a lot of drama and potential repercussions. Oh, and then you don't have to lie multiple times about asking for ID; because you actually did.
Exactly..
And I'll take it another step..
I actually don't even know if the cop is "bad"
He very well could be though..
I don't think he even recognizes he handled it wrong in the moment.. but perhaps afterwards. He may have felt he ask for his i.d.. but he did not do so in a correct way or give him a true chance.. He later tries to justify it all..
I believe there is an incompetent problem with some of the handling of these situations.. and that's still just as bad.
I just think some guys are not the best at handling these types of situations.. The problem is they often turn down smarter people applying to be police. At least I have read that to be the case.. and now.. with the way the things are going currently.. Who is even going to want to be cop?
So I still appreciate what they do and I don't hate all cops. In fact I respect most. I just want there to be more accountability.. and for people to understand it's okay to acknowledge there are incompetent officers. We have to work together. Both sides.. They need to better access these situations. Some of these people don't need to be in position to handle life threatening situations.

Can you tell me where in the video they said you're under arrest before he jumped back into his car?

So you wouldn't have this problem unless you were living g with someone with a warrant.
yes, because we all have the choice of who we live with in all circumstances and our roommates are open books about their legal situation. Your assumptions are glaring, and it's pathetic.

All he had to do was get out of the car.
and all they had to do was check his ID. They're the ones requesting his name and they're the professionals.

Blame should be placed all around.
nah Kid should sue and win.

Like I have said in this entire fricking thread.
still wrong.

Kid brought it on himself.
So anytime something bad happens to someone they brought it on themselves? Or is this just those that encounter the police?
I know we are not supposed to have anything bad to say about police right now,but the police are not always right in these situations and deserve some of the criticism they get.

Once again, cops overstepping their authority with impunity. Innocent citizen getting hassled because he dated to try to emphasize his rights. At no point does the man have to comply with these officers for any legal reason. Consequence? Taser and bullshite charge.
We really need to address the issues with the current policing in this country. It is wrong to get teased because you actually understand your rights and the officers don't.

Why do you seemingly insist that we all bow down to the police in every situation?

I'm not sure I'd say primary since Patrick didn't cooperate from the get go.

No.
Lying about asking for his ID would indicate that their interest was fricking with him.

i don't. I just also don' think a pay day is warranted here.
If he had cooperated form the get go, or had been some random guy not at an address at a warrant being served, then yes.

Wtf? You are a fricking moron.
And next time I won't assume you don't live with a bunch of people you don't know.

So you are saying the guy should resist and get shot? ...... Yea thats a good idea. Resist arrest of pissed off a-hole cops. How has that been working out for peeps?
is it resisting arrest if the cops can't legally arrest him?
good on the kid. i hope these retard cops lose their jobs.

You're assuming, but apparently it's OK when you do it.

so you're fine with them not providing the kid with the warrant, even though that's completely within his rights?
Second part-do you think a cop should be able to kick a door in, search a house, and then provide a warrant? Or should they have to show the warrant, and then be able to enter the home?
It's the same concept. You shouldn't be cuffed and treated as a criminal without proof that you should be cuffed and treated like a criminal, when it comes to serving a warrant.
