I have one and he is such a great pet. Socialize them early because some of them have very dominant traits that need to be worked out. Make sure to take them on regular walks because this breed will be as lazy as you let them but they need the exercise (all the joint problems, etc come from being too heavy). Prepare thy anus for shedding.

But man...you really will not find a more lovable dog. Congrats

Geez, that's a lot of caring for an animal. My friend had one and wouldn't let him sleep in his room because of how loud that fricker snored and his death farts.

Would love an English bulldog, but if breeders think i’m paying 3k for a dog that will have constant health issues and has a life span of 10 years, they are drunk

Get a nyla bone. They love to chew and will wreck anything cheap and swallow it. They are gobblers so don’t feed them large amounts at one time. Very funny dogs that will do the same thing over and over if you laugh at them. They will sleep 20 hours a day if you let them. We’ve had ours for 4 years and wouldn’t trade him for anything.

I was interested in getting one at one time, but their skin issues and difficulty with heat held me back.

Female is the way to go with English bulldogs. They tend to be smaller, live longer and less messy (slobber). Enjoy your pup.

We can’t wait to get her but the wife and I also realize the commitment and work that will be involved. I’m sure there are many things we aren’t prepared for but we are prepared to provide her a very loving home and to spoil her rotten I’m sure.

I have a 3 yr old white female named Lola. She can be aggressive towards other dogs and strangers. Snoring and farting as stated are definitely noticeable. She is also not very smart and very stubborn but other than that we lover our pig dog.hilarious to watch her go in circles because she can’t scratch her arse.

Absolutely, the wife and I have a corgi that goes pretty much everywhere with us. When we go out for dinner the place has to have outdoor seating. Get ready for dropping some money when you Goto the pet store with her as well—indoor pups are high energy and need constant attention so i would invest in bully sticks from the pet store to keep them occupied. When the dog gets a little older buy an iFetch from amazon.

I have a male that is 5.5 years old. I love him to death, and he probably loves me more.

Clean the wrinkles and folds every day! If she still has her tail, get ready to wipe her butt every time she takes a dump. Unless she get into some muck, only bathe her once a week. I use Johnson and Johnson’s baby shampoo, and I add a conditioner.

English Bulldogs don’t fart if you feed them good food. Never feed them anything with soy in it. Also, Science Diet is not a good food. The best food for them is Royal Canin Bulldog puppy food. I order it online. They don’t fart if they’re eating that. My boy still eats the puppy food, as he can’t handle large kibble.

You’re going to have to be repetitive and steadfast with training. They like to get into grooves and routines. They’re not dumb dogs by any sense of the imagination. They just want to do throngs their way. They’re very hard headed, but you can’t fool them but once.

They watch you a lot. They know you very well. They hate being alone. They’re not a good breed to be left alone in the house all day in a kennel.

They do have a deep down fighting drive that won’t allow them to quit anything they set their minds to. They’re also very strong an rough. At the same time, they know what they’re dealing with when they’re around children and babies. They’re very gentle around kids, but they can get jealous if you keep the kids away from them.

I love my boy. He is 68 pounds of solid muscle. He loves his family. He is currently visiting my mom and dad. He loves going to the lake and riding the boat. He loves guarding.

If you want to keep the pit bulls away, this is your breed. They can kill one very easily. I don’t condone dogs fighting, but it’s true. That drive is in them, and you will see it.

Get ready for some tough love with her. At the same time, she will love you back 10 fold. They’re great family dogs.

Why do say that?
Bulldog problems.

quote:

Over the past 100 years the Bulldog has gone from a great athlete to one of the unhealthiest breeds around. And despite numerous concerns about their health & overall well-being they continue to rise in popularity. And the problem, of course, is completely man made

quote:

Over the years the Bulldog’s physical traits have been bred to be more extreme. The face has become flatter, the legs have shortened, the head has grown larger, and the underbite has grown

quote:

Most Bulldogs can’t breed without human intervention, both in the actual mating & birthing process. If it weren’t for this intervention in breeding the Bulldog as it stands now would become extinct. They have problems with their breathing and respiratory systems due to the enlargement of the soft palate and narrowing of the oropharynx. They’re also known for problems with their heart, hips, eyes, and skin.

Bulldogs are extremely intolerant of heat due to their short snouts. They’re unable to regulate their temperature through panting as well as other dogs, and even normal activities in intense heat can cause heatstroke. It’s recommended that Bulldogs be kept in an air-conditioned area with limited trips outside when the temperature is over 80 degrees F, or when the humidity is high.

They have the highest rate of hip dysplasia in any breed. A study released in 2009 by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals found that 71.6% of the 564 Bulldogs they studied were affected.

After she drinks water, dry under her chin. The water and slobber combination will fester and a rash will develop.
