I pulled the trigger on buying a English Bulldog pup

I will be picking her up in a little over a week. She’s a merle with blue eyes with a defined rope over the nose and wrinkles, absolutely beautiful puppy. My family is besides themselves with excitement but I’m a little nervous because we have never owned a Bulldog. Any tips from some bulldog owners on here?

Keep Vaseline on the nose.
Get used to slobber and snoring.

I don't know why people continue to breed these dogs.

Constant farters. Will dribble water from their face all over the damn place after drinking from the bowl. Snore like a sumbitch.

Do not let them near a pool. They can't swim naturally. I had a friend lose their first bulldog this way. They had a pool and a doggy door. It went out in the middle of the night to do his business, fell in the pool and drowned. His kids were devastated.

Any tips
Start putting money away for the inevitable constant vet visits and a replacement dog in a (relatively) few short years.

get a skateboard. ours loved to skateboard. She also loved us taking her to the parks so she could go down the slides. Don't let them stay out in the heat very long because they can't take it. They definitely snore a lot but that's to be expected with them. overall they're pretty fun and make great family pets. Goodluck....and post pics! lol

Don't listen to anyone on here.
I had one years ago...............he was my best friend. Goofy fella!
Yes he had some issues when he was a puppy...............but he will entertain you nonstop.
Good job! Come back with pics later.

I’ll post pics when I get her. She’s not ready to be brought home yet. I know about the drooling, snoring, farting, and shorter than average lifespan but my family had been begging for two straight years for a Bulldog. This is an early Christmas present .

Bulldog bodies are not designed to take the kind of impacts that happen when they fall even moderate distances at speed like the end of a slide. Do not let your English bulldog do this or you risk broken front legs and possible hip dysplasia.
OP has not done adequate research and has flushed his money down the toilet. You'll get at most 9-10 years out of this animal and you're looking at skin allergies, yeast infections in the folds, chronic breathing problems and possible swallowing problems, choking hazards from any and all toys and foods, hip dysplasia, neurological problems and those are just the "normal" issues with this breed.
Someone earlier said it, but this breed should not continue.
