I got a bad case at 42, in 2 places, from my spine to my sternum. Several open saucer sized patches that felt like lit cigars on my skin. The pain was so intense I couldn't read, couldn't concentrate, I understood why shingles can lead to suicide. It lasted about 10 days before subsiding, it took weeks for the sore to heal and go to scar tissue.

A friend of mine got it on her face, it got into her eye and the eye had to be removed. She is still in pain 3 years later.

I got the shots, I never want to go through that hell again. I just broke my neck, I'd rather do that again then go through a bad case of shingles.

I had it at college... stress will do it.

Weird that it's prevalent now with the new shingles vaccine that just released several months ago.

Yeah, she’s a moron.
Chickenpox vaccine wasn’t widely available in the US until the mid to late 90s. So the first generation to actually have the vaccine is likely in their late 20s now (getting the first shot at 12 months).
Anyone older than that is more susceptible to shingles because they almost certainly had chicken pox as a kid. And I don’t believe they recommend the shingles vaccine until you’re 50.
Ok, moron. That's not at all what Momma4 was saying. Here, try again:

quote:

Childhood varicella vaccinations: Studies show that the rates of shingles have increased since varicella vaccines were introduced in 1996. Varicella vaccines use a live-attenuated (weakened) form of VZV to stimulate the immune system into producing antibodies that fight off the virus (the vaccine does not cause varicella itself). In doing so, the body is protected against the disease.

Some researchers speculate that an increase in shingles may be attributed to the lack of exposure to wild varicella-zoster virus. As their immunity wanes over time, adults aren't given a natural "boost" by being exposed to children who have chickenpox.

If they took the covid jab, that is one of the side effects. Latent viruses showing up.

I'm 36 and had it a few years ago. It was a bitch.

I just had it on my scalp and behind my ears. But it was one of the most miserable things ever.

Studies in Israel, Brazil and the US suggest that the mRNA vaccines have increased incidences of shingles within the vaxxed population.

my buddy got shingles when he went keto

This is extremely doubtful. He probably had keto rash which is different.

I'm supposed to get my second dose of the Shingles vax any day. I'm just waiting for a slow week, because I've heard it sucks for a few days.

I got the vaccine. Somehow I think having Shingles would be easier than the second shot. That night I shook so hard my teeth were chattering.

Just turned 40 last month.. got it Friday.. started out not too bad, rash on my upper left side of my back, left arm pit and left side of my chest.. not really itching like my dad described his.. it's more so likea bunch tiny needles puncturing my skin all at once.. the rash under my arm pit is the worse because the skin is sticking together and pulls apart when i move my arm so i have to sit on the couch with my left arm raised the whole time. Went to the urgent care Saturday and he prescribed acyclovir. 5 times a day for 10 days. Today is a lot worse than yesterday. Didnt have any of the COVID vaccines. And didn't even know there was a shingle vaccine.

Had someone at work say they know someone that was put on a zpak regiment.. like 9 the first day and then weaned off a few doses every other day.. by a week it was all gone. I could have sworn I've read that here on td before but wasn't sure!
