Remote project management contract position paying a really good rate for 18-24 months guaranteed with probably direct hire late in the contract.

Another position I had I did about the same number of people - much different, lower position but only a few months contract. Got 2 responses.

Just an observation. Funny thing - some of the people actually "connected" but never said a word in response to my info about the positions.

Maybe the people you messaged don't want contract work and prefer something more long term?

Maybe they didn't like what you're offering

I work as a BA and do a lot of PM tasks. I’m interested if they aren’t.

Open to work doesn't mean they're actively looking. It means if the right opportunity comes along they might consider it.

I get solicited about job opportunities regularly on LinkedIn, even though my status isn’t listed as looking or open.

I always try to reply back with “I’m currently not looking for a change but I appreciate you reaching out to me. “ type of message.

That's me. If someone contacts me with a crazy offer, I'll see what they have to say, but most of the time it's contract work at a payrate lower than what I'm already getting.

Linkedin sucks. And people don't change their status or check their messages.

Just because they are open to work doesn’t mean they are actively looking for a change. Passive candidates are in a great spot right now.

Maybe the type of project management work you offer doesn’t interest them.

Define what you mean as “paying a really good rate”

You think that’s all the people you should reach out to if you are recruiting for a role?

That’s an extremely small sample size, but even then you are essentially cold calling. The success rate for that is around 1% - 2%

So you aren’t that far off from that number.

Edit: you are actually above the cold call success rate so congrats.

I hit up a dude a while back about a programming position. he said he was interested and he would come interview. morning if the interview he said he couldnt make it. then I asked when he would be able to and he never responded. then the other day I got a notification that he was working at a t-shirt shop.

Was this rate specifically listed in the job description, or just "really good" like this?

I'm never opening another job offer again until you folks start including salary ranges. Just wasting peoples time.

They're not leaving a guaranteed salary to get an associates degree at your company.
