I’ve always gotten to work early, left a little late, dressed equal to or better than my superiors, and was always 100% sober. Those simple things provide security.
Nah, if you're a star, people overlook the little things.
Results matter, everything else is just trying to fit in.

What was your old job?
Posted on 3/22/19 at 8:41 am to VolsOut4Harambe
It's not always a bad thing. When I lost mine a couple years ago it led me on the path I am now with an even better job. Dont always look at it as a bad thing, but a new opportunity.

First off what kind of job/pay was it?
I lost a job once in my 20s and couldn’t have given a F less
I lost a job about 6 years ago that almost folded me.

Go to Indeed.com and look for jobs.

If everything that follows is true than this will be one of the best things that has ever happened to you.
Sounds like you needed a new start somewhere else. Take the weekend, clear your head, get your stuff ready and start looking for the RIGHT situation instead of the NEXT situation.

Any suggestions what to do?
ETA: well duh look for another job. Talking about in the interim.
Not sure what you do/did, but if I found myself suddenly jobless I'd probably hit up Uber and Waitr to at least get some cash flowing in until I found something permanent.

Sorry to hear that. I’m a corporate recruiter for a large software company and while I probably can’t help you directly, there’s a few things I’d suggest.
1) Use today to update your resume, watch some basketball and lick your wounds. You’re going to need a period of down time, you’re not a robot and you’re going to feel down on yourself. Use the weekend to clear your head, get prepared, and get ready to rock on Monday.
2) Update LinkedIn profile. If you’ve got one already, update the career sections. This means explain exactly what you did in bullet points underneath each job title. Next step, set your profile to “open to new opportunities”. When we run searches for candidates LinkedIn is the first tool recruiters use, undeniably. When we run a search we have the option to sort candidates by those who have set their profile to “open to new opportunities”.
3) Finding a new job is a job in itself. After you’ve done the LinkedIn step, go to Indeed, type in a Boolean search with your skillset, and apply to all of those you’re interested in. I cannot express enough how important it is to tailor your resume to the job posting. This doesn’t mean to fluff or lie about your skillset, but rather place an emphasis on the skills you have and those that the employer is seeking.
If you need any tips, let me know and I’ll share my email. I can send you a couple blind resume templates that will help you with formatting. While it’s important to have a nice resume, paying for a service to do it for you is unnecessary.
Best of luck!

I love all the smart arse comments from the W2s out there. Some of your are next on the chopping block is my guess.
Problem solved the best you can and control what you can control. If you need to lose weight and dye your hair to get a new job. Remeber, most people are fattists because deep down they hate themselves on the inside.

. Not going to be a whole lot you can do over the weekend except prep a resume
Decent advice in this post, with the exception of what i quoted above- this is 2019; 99% of resumes/applications are done online, thru indeed, LinkedIn, Zip, company websites, etc.. You can (and probably should) send out 100 resumes over the weekend if you want to.. Sure, you most likely wont hear back from anyone until Monday at the earliest- but in my past job searches, i’ve found it beneficial to have your resume be first n line waiting when the recruited checks in on Monday morning.. also, i’ve had success sending out resumes/applications late at night or in the wee hours of the morning, so that it’s waiting for the hiring person first thing in the morning.. if you only submit during business hours, you have more likelihood of getting lost in the shuffle with other miserable saps who are sitting at their dead-end job looking for something better, or on their couch watching tv while shooting off resumes.

What city are you in? Do you have a car that gets good gas mileage? Go apply at Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, and Domino's right now as a delivery driver.
You can work at 2 of the 3 places to get you about 35 hrs a week. I've had several friends do this as their full time jobs for years. Training and orientation should easily be done within a week so you can get on the road making money.
Take some day shifts for a bigger check and Take all the late shifts you can get like 5-close to make the best tips.
You can and will still get max unemployment while working a min wage pizza delivery job while you actually are making about $20/hr with gas prices low as they are.
