I hate weather men saying “ feel like temperatures”

Just give me the real temperatures.
It’s a nonsensical measurement. Does anyone think a 21 year old in shape man and a 87 years old sickly man have the same sensation of heat?
So who’s feel like are we basing it on?
Almost the entire weather forecast is now a mostly useless platform of fear and negativity.

Alarmists by nature. Plain weather not good enough.
In Houston we have Channel 2 with Frank Billingley. For Hurricanes he came up with a "cone of uncertainty". Most people I know refer to it as Franks "cone of hope" because Houston seems to always find its way into it.
There could be 40 spaghetti models showing a Hurricane headed to Florida panhandle or Mexico and he will find some outlier European model that has it coming in somewhere into the Galveston area. He will usually say it is an outlier and kind of dismisses it... but he still shows it.

And give us the dew point.
Humidity is a useless number on its own for the average human. It can be 60 degrees and 100% humidity and feel great.
Dew point actually tells you how oppressive it feels.

I like to have both, because it gives an idea of other weather conditions without having to actually look at all the other weather conditions. It's useful when taking a quick look versus an in depth look.

Maybe I could use “ feel like” if a cop pulls me over? I know I was doing 85, but it felt like 65!

Sounds like he is doing his job by pointing out the outlier and dismissing it. The world is full dumbasses who would say “that’s one right at us why didn’t he talk about it”.

I take care of my 85 year old dad and he keeps the the thermostat at 78 and he’s cold. To me, it “ feels like” 85!

It is just metric to give a single number to express more than one environmental data point. The same temp at different humidities feels different, I doubt you would argue that. Just like temperatures you learn what the apparent temperature means to YOU.
Many people find it useful. I tend to use it deciding when to do work outdoors, sometimes the cooler temp in the morning causes more heat stress on my body than a higher temp in the evening due to lower humidity. There is no reason to be afraid of just another metric, but it is indicating a real feeling.

That would be the heat index.
Then you have wind chill in the winter.
Real Feel Temperatures are just a trademarked term Accuweather or some weather providers sell to TV stations to market we have a better metric than the NWS, but in actuality it is all just BS.

Why isn’t the wind chill used in the summer time? Is there no wind in the summer? Is there no humidity in the winter? Why is it only used to push things to a more extreme?
