I absolutely look at heat index/wind chill and dew point when I'm working out since I'm usually hiking outside for longer than 15-30 minutes.

That much moisture in the air makes it hard for your body to regulate temp because of the rate in which your sweat can evaporate (or not when it's humid). So you have to at the very least adjust water/electrolyte intake or consider taking shite indoors if it's bad enough.

Come here in the winter when it's 25 degrees without a wind chill. Then step outside on a day when we get one of those big artic fronts that gives you 25 degrees with a negative windchill.

I promise, it's a noticeable difference. When we had a stretch of multiple -10/-15 windchill days awhile back it damn near felt like spring the first day we had 20-30 degrees without a windchill.

Cool.

But literally everyone knows that 98 with high dew point and no breeze feels a lot worse than 98 with low dew point and a breeze.

Why is it sensationalism to report this difference?

And age is more important. My 87YO mother wears a sweater and long sleeves in a house that's 78F and still complains of being cold. Thats age. Her health may be poor (it actually isn't) due to her age, but its age.

Well, sure. People who are heavier feel it different than skinnier too. Or people with medical conditions versus others who don't have those medical conditions.

The Feels Like is just what it feels like to the average person (using their algorithm).

Would it bother you less if it was named something else?

They used to NEVER say the “feels like” temp except on the hottest days. Now it’s every day. All for weather clicks.
