Last time I got an oil change I went to one of those express places and had to argue to get real oil. They wanted to give me $80 synthetic oil for my bottom of the line Versa. I'll be going back to my regular spot next time.

I pay $120 for an oil change, but that’s 10k oil. I look at it like this, I can pay the $35-$45 oil change, that’s only good for 3k miles.
It comes out the same.

And for people that say oil changes are now too expensive, back in 1991, I worked at Jiffy Lube. A basic oil change 32 years ago was $26.

Go to Walmart $54.88 for a full synthetic oil change. And you can pick the oil.

Now a certain German dealership charges $200 for oil change

Is that the one that got rid of the drain plug? The mechanic doesn’t even have to go under the car. He brings a wrench and a vacuum pump, he opens the oil from the top and inserts a special suction line to suck out all the oil. The filter is right on top too.

That reminds me of some newer riding mowers from John Deere. The most of the oil stays in the filter acting as the oil pan. So when it comes time to change the oil, all you have to do is to change the filter and it comes prefilled with oil. Each easy change filter is about 50 dollars. And if you had the old style it might cost 10 dollars plus your time.

Car shops are cheap in Texas where every Mexican on the corner will change your oil for 10 bucks. My last oil change was like $30.

Change your own oil then bitch boy

I can’t remember the last time I brought my truck somewhere to change the oil. I’ve done it myself for over 20 years. But damn, it’s not as cheap as it used to be

Over 100 percent markup sounds right for labor and service costs that are out of control. For example, the cost to change a home AC capacitor or install a slow start unit is outrageous.

$80 for 20 quarts of full synthetic oil at Costco and less than $5 for a filter on rockauto.

$25 out the door per oil change.
