things would have to really approve in the near future for us to even think about considering public school and we live in a top 3% district in the US

Yes, a few in an odd way, most in a good way.

Our daughter is doing just fine as a "different" homeschool grad. 2 undergrad degrees from LSU followed by a PhD and now waiting on child #3.

Homeschooliers usually outperform public school students on virtually all metrics.

This is largely a myth.

Most of the homeschooled kids I’ve met are better people, are socialized in a healthier way and are far more likely to have avoided criminal or drug issues in my experience.

And no one in my family are home schooled so it’s not as though I’m biased.

A home schooled kid would have gotten their arse whipped and probably cut after a day at my junior high.

Why don't the teachers speak out on the unnecessary spending within the school system? Any time there is a new bond for schools, they're out front cheerleading the bond.

That's fricking stupid. Never on earth has someone vaping interfered with my ability to urinate or defecate. This country needs a war.
as a public school teacher let me rephrase for her…

“There’s too many girls clogging up the stalls vaping so I can’t go to the bathroom.”

During and after covid, my wife home schooled my son. She did it for 6th,7th and 8th grade. I wanted him to have the "high school experience" and enrolled him in private school.

Since we hadn't done any standardized testing, I was really worried where he was going to be academically, compared to his peers, considering he and my wife only did school work about 2 hours a day.

He tested 'in level' in only one subject, which was math. Everything else he tested several grades higher. He immediately started in honors classes and has done very well.

I'm not remotely surprised by the teachers statement. My son is a smart kid but honestly he didn't really try very hard during his time homeschooling.

There are plenty, at least in TX. The quality of the parents, even in rich school districts continues to decline, though. The generation of kids that have had iPads shoveled at them as soon as they could hold them is fully in the school system, and it shows. Anxious moms tend to raise kids that have poor emotional self-regulation.

But, school districts want more money, as always.

Our kids are doing great in public school but we also base our entire understanding of their performance on their grades and testing scores..

They've got so much shite going on every night that we're just trying to get homework and studying done before 9pm.

Who knows if they're ahead or behind or whatever

IDK if you are being sarcastic or not but Grok says 93% of public schools in 2025 use them.

Sucks to say, but what the sheltered kid experienced is the real world. The sooner she learns how to adapt, the better.

Sounds like the smart kid you hire, but has zero clue how to work with, communicate, or get along with others so they’re basically worthless.
