Probably something like this that was in the OP's article:

quote:

a hefty fine of $2,500 any time one of its 429 million consumers and merchants expressed what the corporate brass deems to be misinformation.

No… sad part is they were probably all WOKE a-hoes that thought it was a great idea.

These companies are so far up WEF’s arse that it’s all they see.
Look at the list of Corporate Executives that attend Davos every year.

WEF Website- look through the attendees and tell me nothing is up

Like you think they’re monitoring all of your TD posts?

How would any of that relate to a PayPal transaction?

Nope.

It would be impossible to link someone's social media to their PayPal?

I don’t know how it would affect me and I’m not comfortable with it being up to PayPal management whether they steal from me or not. Maybe they have a staff of people stalking users on social media. Maybe they find out I didn’t get a COVID booster. I simply don’t know.

I guess I find it odd that you don’t see a problem with it.

You progressives sound exactly like the people from my youth who adamantly defended the Patriot Act.

Birds of a feather.

FYI, you are replying to, and attempting to reason with, one of the millions of Progs that would jail you tomorrow if they could. Decatur is a trained liar. He will talk you in circles for hours to justify any authoritarian rule a company wants to pass.

Unless, of course, they don't want to bake a cake. He's all for jailing the baker in that situation.

Who said anyone was worried about their own issues with social media and PayPal? You think this would be a good policy to implement for anyone not just TD users?

The only thing I assume is that you’re a shite troll.

Existing policy already allowed them to collect LD’s under certain circumstances related to transactions.

quote:

Prohibited Activities You may not use the PayPal service for activities that: 1. violate any law, statute, ordinance or regulation. 2.relate to transactions involving…

I guess I find it odd that you don’t see a problem with it.

I haven’t been able to read the updated policy that is being complained of and I’m not really sure what exactly is covered by it. Based on the past policies it seems to have to have a nexus to a PayPal transaction.

It’s called “groupthink”, and it exists inside the very bubbles that run our society.

I guess you’re trolling so I’m going to leave it be after this, but I don’t know how you don’t see the difference between a violation of law and the very vague term of “misinformation.” Please tell me what dictates misinformation.

I’m not trolling. I do think people are probably blowing this out of proportion though.

What about this in the existing policy

quote:

relate to transactions involving… (f) the promotion of hate, violence, racial or other forms of intolerance that is discriminatory or the financial exploitation of a crime,

Looks like it has been up to PayPal to make this determination in their sole discretion.

One lesson for customers to learn here is to collectively get angry and companies will change their tune. I just wish more would’ve done the same to the nba/nfl to scare them a bit.

Closed this morning. Won't miss it.

I hope other companies watch this blowback and learn.
