Tunica is the single most depressing thing I have ever seen. In 10 minutes, I watched a woman lose more 100s on blackjack than she had teeth in her head

I think the big companies are probably doing better overall, even with less brick and mortar action. There have to be dozens of people going bankrupt every day in states where you can play online. You can see it right in front of when you play live-dealer games, people are burning hundreds of bucks on hands at one time from home. I found that the real live table games like that were too slow for me and I would rather play quicker electronic games, even though the algorithm or whatever is probably rigged to frick you. I lost big on table/electronic games a few times and lucked out that I made up for it on some big sports bets. At least with sports gaming, you're kind of just playing the people on the other side of the line.

It’s a lack of hope. It is the complete antithesis of believing in yourself.

Do you not understand it or do you not agree with it? Those are two different discussions.

Bc it’s pretty simple to understand.

Do they? I admittedly don't visit a casino often, but when I do most people at the slots tend to be older and always look absolutely miserable as they push the button as fast as they can.

I believe the poster’s sarcasm zipped right over your head.

Not to mention that sports gambling is a slow burn. The slots are basically throwing your money in an incinerator

Yes, it can be a fun thing to go and play blackjack or roulette maybe once a year or so, going in knowing the plan is to lose a set amount of money,

I’m not sure how losing money is fun to anyone. I also will never understand the casino gambler. The odds are never in their favor, yet they will still hand it over. If I asked anyone, “Hey, want to play poker? I get 5 cards and you get 4.” They’d respond with a hell no…but somehow can’t wait to play it in a casino.

I understand the appeal sports gambling or games of skill (poker, blackjack etc.). It is the people buying lottery tickets every week and scratch offs that confuses me. That is literally pissing money down the drain.

am curious if casinos have taken a hit since the smartphone and social media came out.

Do you see any casinos in Vegas, Atlantic City or the thousands in other locations across the U.S. closing down due to lack of business???

That answers your question.

I've known some people who were horribly addicted to gambling and lost just about everything they ever accumulated in their lifetime, IF they ever did accumulate much.

The saddest was a couple so addicted to Bingo, of all things, that they lost their house, cars, savings, etc. The guy was a plant worker, got hurt on the job, collected a tidy sum of money in the lawsuit and pissed it all away at Bingo halls with his wife over a 3 year period.

It’s my main form of entertainment, mainly poker and 20 bucks in the machines here and there. But I am very much in control and stick with a budget and am a good enough poker player that I’m probably around even in the long run.

But the people who pull out hundreds and feed them into the machines every two minutes are sad sad people

This. I’ve got friends who are more and more attached to playing $20 anytime they see a machine when out. Escalated from sports betting.
