I can't believe that in 2019 the I-10 bridge in Baton Rouge is still a clusterf*ck.

Took me an hour to get from Lobdell to Blue Bayou at 4 pm today. And it's not just today.

We can put man on the fricking moon, but we can't fix this shite. What in the actual frick.

My normal commute took 30 minutes longer than normal today. On a Tuesday with no use of interstates. Traffic in this city is just plain awful.

I would say landing on the moon is easier than persuading louisiana politicians to do something productive

I bet it felt good once you climbed the stairs to that first slide though. Give the middle finger to the traffic on 10 and then send it.

We will still be saying this in 2049, 30 years and 5 studies later by somebody’s Brother-in-law.

Think about the people that ran NASA in the 60’s. Then think about the people that run Baton Rouge today.

The entire problem is I-10 going to one lane once you pass the highland exit after the bridge. Until they fix this problem, it will never get better.

I often wonder how much $$ has been lost by shipping companies, businesses, truckers, etc from this massive bottleneck of I-10 and why the city planners never have done anything about it. It is truly a nightmare every single day, including weekends.

Oh I saw it. The obvious moral of the story is that we as a society can accomplish great things if white men stand in the front and take credit for everything while the black women do all the real work in the basement and have to walk a mile to go potty.

I think Baton Rouge is holding off for cars to become obsolete to teleporters.

Wait until Blue Bayou opens in a few months, and the state troopers directing the lot exit proceed to back up I-10 East for miles every afternoon.

I agree that this is the biggest problem, but there are plenty of others. Usually when I cross the bridge into Baton Rouge and it’s backed up, it’s not just from the I-10/I-110 merge. For some reason it seems to back up from near the Perkins Rd and Daleymple exits, which is mind-boggling to me. Maybe the lack of a shoulder going over the lakes causes a slowdown?

There are plenty of others.. I-10W, the on-ramps near the lakes frick shite up mid-morning because there’s no merge lane. And don’t get me started on the LA1 south exit...

Point being that it all needs an overhaul, and not just the interstate system itself. I think DOTD is on the right track with the changes being proposed, but by the time they get around to building the shite it’ll be obsolete.

Max Faget got his degree from LSU. He helped design the Mercury capsule, Gemini spacecraft, and the Apollo Command Module. He was NASA's Director of Engineering and Development for most of Project Apollo through the first flights of the Shuttle. He LITERALLY was instrumental in putting men on the moon.

He wasn't born here, though. I think he was born in what later was Belize or Honduras.
