My black neighbors are getting a Rott in a few weeks weeks. I think their little demon spawn hit the ground last month.

Oddly they are probably more white than you, since you're from Arkansas and all.

Smart dogs though.

It's a top breed. I grew up around a Rott and always found their public perception didn't match my experience.

They aren't dumb aggressors. But have that rap, not a pit. Hate when ppl lump them into the same "grouping". But it is their ignorance about dogs and the breed specifically.

I'm not a fan of breeders who aren't responsible with future owners. That type of breed is almost old world in most cases. We don't need their skill set as much today.

So veting future owners is even more of a responsibility now since it will most likely end up in a family home with small children coming and going.

Hell we raise Brittany spaniels and I wouldn't give a pup to just any one due to their energy levels. They require a lot of attention for different reasons.

I am a "pit has almost zero place type of guy" but Rotts don't deserve that card. They cycle a chain of thoughts and are smart enough to correctly recognize threats. Pits are almost pure aggressive with a thought chain that is attack first, that ability to make decisions is almost breed out of them.

Edt: but I do advise against owning a Rott. Not all owners can take on the challenge during those developmental stages so that the Rott is properly conditioned for certain situations.

Get you a nice Britt for the family. They will run you into the ground with their energy. Kids will sleep good at night!
