Same thing with Dobermans. Smart, sweet dogs.

A few years back my now ex-wife and I were visiting with a vet friend of mine. The tech was walking an adult rottie. He came up to me, smelled and leaned on me begging for a scratch and started playing.
Ex-wife came over, said “what a beautiful dog”, put her arm out to pet him and CHOMP!
Very quick and a warning shot I’m sure. Resulted in a couple minor punctures and bruising.
Few years later I went to find the owner and offer big money for the dog because he was smarter than any human, specifically me.

When I got married, my wife’s (no pics) family had two rotties that we took in. The older one was a good ol’ girl; loyal as hell and very protective. The younger one was good hearted and dumber than a sack of hammers. His brother belonged to a friend of ours; he was a beast so I guess we got the runt.
Overall, good dogs if treated right. Look out for pavo.

We have had rotties for 6 years. Love them to death. This is our 3rd litter.

I bet he's real popular with the ladies.

Rotties are incredible. Their reputation is completely unfounded.

My neighbor has two rotties. They are the goofiest creatures I’ve ever seen.

Congrats on the sex did you have someone hold legs or stick them in your boots. I cannot wait to see the offspring

Is this the actual trashiest post in OT history?

how do rotties stack up against Pits as far as the white trash meter goes?
Almost as high as your ole lady's shirt but not quite

I've had labs and retrievers and my rott is light years better behaved and smarter than any other dog I've ever had.
I leave him in the house during the day and he's never even chewed up a sock. Depending on what rankings you go by they are top 5 in intelligence. The only things that suck are lifespan and of course all the other normal problems large breeds have.

Rotties are sweet, lazy, and goofy. I do realize that they are that way with me and my family. They are scary to other people and could be dangerous.
Our dogs are never out roaming. We have a 6 foot privacy fence with an electric fence at the bottom. They dont even try to get out. They are on leash if we step outside the house. They are crated or put in rooms if we have guest or kids around. I keep a short leash and am cautions when around other people.
Yes, the dogs are friendly, but I am not taking a chance on getting someone or my dogs hurt.

My back yard is a mud pit due to a newer subdivision built behind our house. Our dogs runs the fence line as the neighbors have dogs so there is lots of bare ground. They are constantly sneaking trash outside. Plus I am white trash with a white trash back yard.
