We buried one of my old buddies this morning.

Our junior and senior years of high school there were five of us who hung around together. The other four died at ages 20, 54, 62, and 64. That leaves me.

Live life my friends and treat everyday as a gift, because it is.

I'm in my 30s and all my best friends growing up are dead or doing decades in prison. None of them made it past 34.

Pretty much in the same boat, except I am only 60, I still have a good, slightly older friend who is 62 and still hanging tough, even through 2 bouts with cancer. He moved into my neighborhood when I was 11 years old, and we got in a fight the first day we met. We've been tight ever since.

I don't. That is why I cannot believe that I was not one of the first to go. The guys who were 54 and 62 seemed to be in great health and had never been sick a day in their lives.

A lot of it is genetics, if all of your people live to old ages ( car wrecks, swimming accidents, catching a bullet, addiction, notwithstanding ) you probably will too.

Suicide and overdoses. The ones in prison are there for manufacturing drugs and murder.

Congrats, Baw. Now you get to bang the new widow. You've had your eye on her for a while.

In Louisiana, that usually refers the last family member or friend who hasn’t moved to Texas.

Having buried a few friends waaaay too young, in order to save your sanity, you have to convince yourself / realize that you are lucky to have known your buddies. Others were not as lucky to have known the guys that you know well.

I feel for ya, man. Hope that 2020 is good to you.

I used to enjoy that Springsteen song, Glory Days. Now I’m living it and I hate that damn song.
