This thread, just made me call my old friend. We talked shite for a minute and talk about doing something later. Tell each other that we love each other, hit the hang up button before we squall.

Meh...he already won. It’s all gravy from here. Literally.
As sad as it is and I’ve lost a lot of family and friends I still am always glad I’m not the one in the box. I have a lifetime of memories and I’m good with that. That’s from someone who not only has lost friends but quite a few siblings as well.

I realized at an early age how to become good at standing, others I knew didn't.
Still walked the fence for years.
Sorry.

Genes and luck play a huge role. I should have been dead a few decades ago but still in great health at 64

Dammit boy.
And then there was one.
I've lost too damned many close family and friends, but praise God one thing I haven't lost a single one of, yet, is my old buddies.
The old timers. The boys; my buddies.
The ones of which old times are not forgotten.
And I've always thought that when and/or if, I lose them, even if it's the ones that I haven't seen in many many years, I will truly begin to count down the countdown that I began a long, long time ago- long before I pondered the thought of what you speak of.
That is a countdown- the real countdown- that I do not look forward to, but it is one that I pray they and I live long enough for, for it to be a bittersweet one.
I've long-believed that one of God's greatest gifts to us is the miracle of memories; for what is life without them?
Cheers to you and the friends you were blessed with and the friend they were blessed with in you, and cheers to the memories. May the old times not be forgotten!
