I know quite a few lower income individuals, many of whom are black, who have no involvement in crime. They are salt of the earth type people. Granted, this is a small parish and small town.

ETA: My law partner visited a couple who lived in a small home in Cedar Grove. They clearly had limited income. The house was spotless - as clean inside as a hospital. The couple was in their 70's.

Yeah its not really an American problem. It's a black American between the ages of 15 and 35 problem.

There's an exception to every rule but statistics are cold hard facts that tell us where the issues are.

He should have taken that slap like a man and walked away. No fixing that situation.

Poverty doesn't equate to crime, but it certainly feeds it.

Poverty can have a myriad of causes (laziness, medical condition, addiction, etc) but there's a reason the most violent areas of every city are also among the most poor areas of those cities.

That said, far too many look to poverty as a blanket excuse, refusing to acknowledge that there is an aspect of learned behavior which can come into play as well.

The hard truth is that lots of poverty occurs because of bad decision making. People make poor choices all the time and it costs them. If you'll do just a handful of things in the United States, you won't be poor.

1) Finish high school
2) Don't have babies before you're married
3) Get full time employment

If you can attain some additional educational merit and skills, such as a trade or a college degree you can actually make money with, that risk of poverty plummets even more.

During the depression, my grandfather operated a grocery store in a small Texas town. Before my Dad joined the Marines in WWII, he helped his Dad at the grocery store. There was a black woman named Cora whose family income was picking cotton and she had a lot of kids. She would come in and get groceries on credit (it was during the depression and my Dad always pointed out that "no one had any money in the town"). But, Cora always paid her bill. She might immediately charge some more, but she always paid. Oddly, some of the better families stiffed my grandfather. My Dad never forgot, and always had a ton of respect for Cora. Her grandson "Homer" and I were friends in high school, we had a rock and funk band. Homer and I are still friends and he manages a Kroger Grocery Store (assuming he hasn't retired).

Homer's dad was a Branch, a family that Cora apparently did not like. When Homer's dad told Cora that he was going to marry a Branch, Cora tanned his butt on the square (where everyone could watch) and told him "you are going to marry that N*** Branch." He did, and they had a great marriage, but Cora wasn't having it initially.

Poor does not mean bad. The gangs sling around a ton of cash, and they are shitty.

Getting angry and shooting someone is not the right thing to do.

Entitlement.

My dad made 9k/yr in the 1970s as a lineman.

We drank lots of powdered milk and ate lots of red beans.

People are so fricking soft these days.

My new favorite talking point with these violent, low IQ retards is the fact that if you point out that they love to kill the opposition, you are now "playing the victim".

LOLOL

The MSM is trying this route too now on the families the AG candidate in VA threatened with death last week. His opponent's wife and kids, that he openly stated should "have bullets in their heads", are now playing the victim while Republicans "pounce" on this guy's language, according to the progressive run media.

Just amazing times.

There is no poverty in America. I worked 30 years in law enforcement - all of it road patrol. In every single instance in even the most marginal areas, every residence had a TV and the subjects all had cell phones. That's not poverty. Oh, and, we have obese homeless.

People commit crime for one primary reason - because they can.

agree. Not like the old days anyway.

Knock the door down on any random "free housing" unit and you'll find $1,500 guns, iPhones, Internet, big screen TV's, jewelry, a leased charger in the parking lot....

This.

Go to India to see poverty.

No one is starving in the USA.

Call it wealth disparity, I guess, but for the first time in human history, the poor are obese and the wealthy are not.

West Virginia is poor AF.

They don't come anywhere near urban crime rates.

We all know the issue.
