Do you deny that pit bulls were created to be fighting dogs?

How do those traits not matter?

I ask again: Why take the chance on this breed when there are dozens of others available that are much more suitable for a family?

What about dogs bred to attack wolves? What's the difference?

Is it neutered? Please do that as soon as possible. They can neuter quite young.

Also, start it off early with all sorts of animals and people please.. so it just loves everything.

I don't believe in neutering a dog before it's sexually mature but it's a pound puppy so I imagine it already is.

ETA: in fact, I wouldn't do it until the dog stopped growing (2 years).

You probably have nothing to worry about but that's easy for me to say as an outsider. I would feel really bad for the dog if you brought him back but I would understand.

It ain't the dog it's the way you raise it. Teach it boundaries and that you're the boss and it'll be a great dog.

It's all in how they are raised.

I adopt also and am on my second pit mix. So many dogs have some terrier in them. We had DNA testing on both. They are loyal, sweet and loving. Both went to daycare and played with other dogs as well as my other two dogs. I would not give up on that sweet dog but raise it with love. You won't regret it.

OP you need to get rid of that dog. Just by this post you have shown you will always be nervous or afraid of what that dog may do. Dogs sense that kind of stuff and will act on it

Beautiful dog.

They have an easy DNA kit you can order online. They mail it to you, you swab the dog’s cheeks and mail it back. Takes about 2-4 weeks and the results are amazing.

I’m also a pit owner. Very loving and loyal breed. They were easily trained and very disciplined. They go to a dog sitter while I’m at work and get along with all the dogs. Take them around all my friend’s kids and godchildren without a problem.

Show them love and they’ll love you back times a million! Anyone that says anything different is full of it and basing their opinion only off negative stories.
Good luck

Yeah but only in the past 10 or 15 years have people been so stupid as to keep a pit bull in a little apartment or cooped up on a crate.

Contact your homeowners insurance. Quite a few won’t cover you with a pit bull in the house.

I personally would not take that chance, but to each there own. Side note my sister had a pit mix. She wasn't a mean dog, but she did destroy the house when bored. Ended up going to a farm.

Boxers are not a wide spread bread to have all these "boxer mix" puppies around. I think you were intentionally lied to so the dog would have a home.
