What an insulting response from the worst DOTD head in state history. And even his condescending response acknowledges that I-10 WB will indeed be reduced to 1 lane where traffic enters the bridge.

Four things to me that boggle the mind for a capital city:

1- The Capitol building. Like someone here said, did “pressure washing” cross anyones mind?
2. The River Center. Went a few days ago for the first time in 15 years. Starting to resemble the Cow Palace more than it does the Smoothie King Center.
3. Florida Blvd, west end. Cannot believe how many businesses are now gone forever/buildings boarded up.
4. Public School aesthetics. Look at all of the High Schools in BR. Two have been upgraded, all the rest look like detention centers or something you would see in the Soviet Union.

All embarrassing.

You live in Houston? The exact same process is happening there only with millions of people instead of a couple hundred thousand.

Looks like the debris collecting along the barriers has been there for years. Weeds, trash, blown tires everywhere.

If you really want a treat drive I-110N to US61. This is th route to the Parish Landfill. Just about every garbage truck and private vehicle headed to the dump travel this route and shite blows everywhere.

Every person that visits BTR via the airport gets to travel that road north or south and look at all the trash that is collected along the side of the road... Our city leaders are clueless.

5. The Capital lakes. Anyone see a bigger sewer/oxidation pond in the center of a city?

When they first installed those sound barriers I knew they would one day be an eyesore because they would never pressure wash or paint them.

The LSU Lakes are far worse than Capitol Lake.

I guess they must burn coal in their furnaces instead of natural gas. Why else would the capitol building look dirty after only 90 years of not cleaning it?

It is probably a sore spot on here to mention anything positive about the state where the LSU rival is located, but Birmingham successfully tore down the entire 20/59 interstate through downtown and rebuilt it on schedule within a year. They also added a continuous series of parks and public areas underneath the rebuilt interstate bridges through downtown.

20, 220 and 3132 looks the same through Shreveport. LADOTD has been non existent since COVID, but I noticed less activity when their gas tax failed. Pretty sure those commie fricks are “punishing” us.

Louisiana was an eyesore of trash and bad roads back in the 70’s when I was a kid. Grew up in Shreveport and would drive to Dallas to visit cousins and the contrast between Dallas booming and the dilapidation of Shreveport was striking. I remember wondering why way back then. Zero has changed in 40 plus years.

Federal waters has more to do with it than most want to ever admit.

Doesn't excuse a lot of Louisiana's flaws, but the south in general is poor and shitty. Texas overcame a lot with oil and taxes/royalties that Lousiana never could.

Verse 1:
Sharon Weston Broome, oh what a sight to see
She's the mayor of Baton Rouge, but man she's really mean
She promotes high taxes, that's no way to be
But she doesn't care, she's just a crook, you see

Chorus:
Oh Sharon Weston Broome, what have you done?
You're stealing from St George, and having lots of fun
But the people of Baton Rouge, they're not amused
They're tired of your lies, and all the abuse

Verse 2:
She's preventing the incorporation, of good old St George
She says it's not fair, but we all know the truth
She's just trying to steal, and keep it all to herself
But the people won't stand for it, we'll fight until the end

Chorus:
Oh Sharon Weston Broome, what have you done?
You're stealing from St George, and having lots of fun
But the people of Baton Rouge, they're not amused
They're tired of your lies, and all the abuse

Verse 3:
Crime is out of control, and education's worse
But Sharon Weston Broome, she couldn't care less
She's more concerned with reparations, for things that happened long ago
But the people of Baton Rouge, they just want to live and grow

Chorus:
Oh Sharon Weston Broome, what have you done?
You're stealing from St George, and having lots of fun
But the people of Baton Rouge, they're not amused
They're tired of your lies, and all the abuse

Verse 4:
And let's not forget, the flooding in the town
Sharon Weston Broome, she's the one to blame
She didn't plan ahead, and now we're all underwater
But we won't give up, we'll rebuild and rise stronger

Chorus:
Oh Sharon Weston Broome, what have you done?
You're stealing from St George, and having lots of fun
But the people of Baton Rouge, they're not amused
They're tired of your lies, and all the abuse
