Husband locks chocolate in fridge safe to keep wife from eating it

This was actually on the news this morning, and they were dogging him out, saying he is wrong for that, etc. Why can’t he just share, etc?
I see it as this, he locked it for a reason because they probably use to “share”, meaning she would eat it all, leave him none
