We are baking here in Central Mississippi. Grass is all brown. People with cows are about to get in trouble.
Whereabouts in central MS?

Interested so you can tell he/she that they’re not in a drought? That their grass isn’t brown?

Well, drought isn't objective and is tracked everywhere.
Ever since that Augusta, GA feller convinced himself Augusta ran 8.58° "above average" for July I question everything. We have people trying to wedge themselves into a heatwave and they'll do whatever it takes to get there.
Call it curiosity.
ETA: And yes, I am interested in people's perception of the weather. It kind of fascinates me.

Both 99L and 98L have a 70% chance to develop into weak depression before they get ripped apart. Shear (red areas) is cranking. Nothing at all doing with those. NHC is just getting bored.

Death Valley getting some rain. Just this satellite shot alone shows why any rain there is a problem. There are a number of storm chasers seriously considering going in there. Most probably don't have a very good understanding of what they're walking into. It won't be a surprise to hear of some rescues in the coming days of people who had no business being there. It happened last year when rain on back-to-back days caused flash flooding and mud/debris slides that buried cars and stranded people.

Lake Badwater should form in Badwater Basin again and last for a few months which is pretty cool.
