Well, what the next two weeks look like?

Just a quick update on Sunday morning to note the Christmas-tree like appearance of the National Hurricane Center’s Five-day tropical outlook. In the wake of Hurricane Laura this map may cause some anxiety, but the message we want to leave with you is that none of these systems—for the time being at least—really appear to be a big threat to the Texas coast.

This type of signal is a pretty good sign that the Gulf will be closed for business for a week or so. This might get us into mid-September before having to worry too much about the Gulf.

More then happy to get some cool weather.

Fingers crossed on the front but doesn’t it always seem we get the promise of cooler weather in September but the front never makes it. Seems it’s always mid October before we finally get one through.

Get there and thinking MJO progression could lead to a little lull in activity late September too.

Doesnt Cape Verde season largely shut down by last week of september?

Typically.
It's the Caribbean that's the normal development region in October.

Friend,
I must take this opportunity as the pace of weather has slowed to extend my sincere appreciation to you for your refreshingly brilliant posts here. Your work here regarding weather is like a quasar in the midst of our posters’ ordinary weather-related dung beetles.
Best regards to you, please know that I speak for many others who very much rely on your professional expertise and patient manner with us.
Hoping you have a quiet remainder of the tropical season I remain indebted to you,
Yours truly,
Mssr. Füt

I'm going out on a limb to try and bring some good news
However, there are some pretty good reasons to believe that this one is real with a big typhoon in the WPAC.

Friend,
It is my understanding that there are many meteorologists who post on and read the OT in one fashion or another. It is the best source for south Louisiana weather information, having surpassed Storm2k in 2008.
Yours,
TulaneLSU
