Honestly they’ve all been garbage this year. There’s really not any model that’s had a good handle on things this year

That would make meteorologists with tropical blue balls all bust simultaneously on air.

That is not even a category 1, right? So, a strong Tropical Storm into New Orleans. I guess how much rain is the real question.

From 980-994 mb is a cat 1 I think and 979 and below is a cat 2. But to echo what everyone else is saying, I don’t think this thing comes close to a hurricane could be just a tropical storm/depression sloppy mess.

hire shitty IT staff and then is what happens

NWS must have the same IT provider as Terrebonne Parish. They noticed some unusual activity on their network and had to shut down their network. Their website went down and some payment systems are down too. It started off only being reported as phones are down.

Then it escalated to other systems and they were taken offline. They even had issues with their council meeting and chose to meet in executive session to discuss what was off in private and to hire a firm to solve the problem as recommended by their insurance carrier at a special meeting after the regular Wednesday meeting. Three council members voted absent on the measure and since it had to be approved in a unanimous vote it failed.

The vote failed and the three that voted absent and left the building while the other council members worked to call an emergency meeting. Those three also did not go into executive session.

Of the 3 that left, it included the council chair and vice chair. When the emergency meeting convened, the council had to elect a temporary chair since the chair and vice chair we absent. Two of the three council members that came back and were not happy the special meeting was called so soon. They were texted an alert about the meeting and the meeting started a few minutes after. The measure to hire the firm passed and they are still working on getting some systems back online.

As far as other services affected, it may have even spilled over onto the water service’s billing system too.

While I wish no harm to anyone or damage to their properties, please Lord let this bring substantial rain to Central MS. I can’t take much more of this dry.

I really miss the days of youth when I didn’t give a shite about rain.
