There's so much truth to that, it's sad.

Where I was born and every time I go back, which is not often at all, I'm shocked at how little that city has evolved. That area with the bowling alley (if that's even still there) is pretty much the same as I remember from back in '93 when we moved to Florida. Maybe a few new fast food places that hotel by the bridge.

You must be a teacher. If the storm does head our way, que the onslaught of anger from teachers that this storm had the nerve to come through on a weekend and not cancel school.

Not all teachers...but I've got several whiny teacher friends on fb.

Yeah, where it hits is everything as we all know. On Northshore over here Rita just destroyed W LA and we barely got anything here despite that being a big arse storm and on the E side. I remember that day the energy dudes came to flip our lights on the night when it was done then they needed something and came back next day to flip us on. That was the fastest I've seen us get electricity back after a hurricane. Even Isaac knocked us out for 3-4 days but that was mostly because the crews couldn't get back here due to the flood waters. I know a lot of guys here laugh at Isaac but Northshore got hit hard by that tropical storm. It basically went like a knife through us and that was the most water I saw until the March/August floods last year. All on placement. I think the worst I can personally remember is Gustav but that was because of the placement seeing tornadoes form. I never saw a hurricane do that before even Katrina. Gustav obliterated a neighborhood not even 5 miles from me probably from tornadoes. I can't remember the one in the 90s I was too young for Andrew and the others. I remember George and the doomsday crying then it turned on us and people were pissed. My teachers were bitching the next day in school they didn't need to cancel now they're swamped with work.

Like I said, can't wish it on anyone but someone has to take the shite sandwich. I'm hoping SE LA ends up on West side. We simply are too vulnerable to these kind of storms and considering how high the waters are already due to the winds past several days we don't need this.

We all should but I'm probably going to repeat it over and over anyway.

No doubt. Just got my house mostly fixed post flood and don't want to see the brunt of even a minor hurricane. This isn't a good look for SELa though and the question of brunt just opened up for the river parishes and BR.

Yeah and we've been hit by 2 storms already this year. W LA got it bad with Harvey. Texas got all the publicity but around Lake Charles/Lafayette they got hit hard.

I am between the 17th street canal and Bonnabel, and that's what I was referencing. My street floods, because my block only has one drain that we share with Vets. It only floods on the closest 1/3 of the block to Vets. Drains within 5 minutes of the rain slowing down.

It got to the bottom of trucks the other day, and was gone in as long as it took me to poop

A day off from school in Pineville is probably a net positive for those children

Anyone have radar images? I'm curious to see what it's doing on land right now. Does it look like a mess? Possibly getting tore up?

damn this storm is hauling arse...the once in a 100-year flood earlier this year was basically 4 straight-hours of 2-3 inches of rain nonstop. hoping this thing can get in & out quicker than the storm we already had

Appears to be a pretty compact system on that run, that would increase the chances of RI. The time over water before the Yucatan is big, how fast it organizes there will play a role in how fast it recovers after the Yucatan. Obviously, time over Yucatan matters as well.

You're a dumbass. It's fall break, the teachers are already off Monday and Tuesday. You've got no clue what teachers go through on a daily basis or how hard they work. Does one lazy teacher make them all lazy? Does one bad cop make them all bad? You're definitely the f-tard in this thread.
