Funny how 2 days ago I posted about those disturbances in the Gulf becoming hurricanes hitting FL and y’all gave me shite for that.? Why is that? All I’m trying to do is spread and receive info and socialize with reputable people. PTSD is no joke and I’m sorry I have compassion.
Jesus cristos I can hear your shrill voice through this post. Go take it to a mahjong forum.

The HAFS suite is coming in strong. Small core, good conditions, this could get really strong by Tuesday.
Small cores can get powerful fast but are delicate things. As that shear increases near the coast and dry air tries to wrap in, hopefully that small core gets broken down before landfall.
HMON, HAFS-A and HAFS-B, get this extremely strong coming across the gulf and getting dry air wrapped into the core before landfall taking it up 20-30 mb going into land.

If it drops the hammer like that there are going to be some very nervous hours leading up to landfall waiting for it to come apart. It loses 67mb on approach.

Yeah, I hear you. If people were treating me like a doormat and not taking me seriously I’d go socialize somewhere else with better people

All the landfalls are pretty north too.
But yeah, it falling apart is a pretty reasonable scenario but it's going to be nerve wracking if the cane models are to be believed.
I mean, the HAFS-B went sub 900 for a good stretch. HMON and A got under 920. HWRF is stronger than MON @ same timestep. Betcha it gets stupid strong and falls apart on that one too.
Could see that wind field really stretch out at landfall the way it gets opened up on these models.

See that you guys! She predicted a FL landfall and yall gave her shite for that.
She's a beacon of meteorological knowledge just trying to spread info. We're lucky to have her.

Liz checking in, will this be #24 or #25?
Milton and a red stapler is all I can think of.
Helene was nothing here but some wind, sand and rain, but people in and around Ashville had their homes and lives swept away. Fort Myers Beach still looks awful from Ian, and Helene dropped a foot of sand in people's front yards.
Wednesday is usually $5 sushi at Publix. We shall see. Prayers to all in the path and may Milton remain unpaid, in the basement.

10 miles makes a lot of difference in the effects of landfall with this one in that Tampa area.
If it goes to the north side of the bay, the impact is much worse than going south of the bay.

Asking again to get some reasonable feedback...my wife and I are taking our 4 kids to Disney (it will be the 1st time for the 3 younger ones), and we are suppose to drive in tomorrow, with 5 days in the parks Tuesday-Saturday. Should we reschedule for Thanksgiving or Mardi Gras week? Looks like Disney closed 10 times in its history due to hurricanes, with the last closure during Hurricane Ian in 2022. They closed 2 days for that storm.

My advice. Cancel.
But not because of the storm.
But because Disney sucks arse.

quote:if you are able to cancel/reschedule without losing a bunch of money I’d do it. We still don’t know exactly what the effects will be here in Orlando - could range from just breezy with periods of heavy off and on rain Wednesday- Thursday to significant hurricane conditions Wednesday night / Thursday morning- with major disruptions to every day activities.

Also bad news for us and my parents if it veers left. I don’t trust any storms hitting my parents yard. Their yard is a death trap. I’ve begged them to fix it and my dad refuses on principal. Makes me so mad
Is it just low? What makes it a death trap?

40% of the US lives on the coast.
These fools are casually talking about just you know walking away from tens of trillions of dollars in coastal real estate.
I wonder how the flood prone people in New Orleans, Houston, Charleston and elsewhere will feel about their invitation to walk away from their flood/hurricane prone cities as well?
