Orlando storm tier list since 2000:
S tier:
- Charley - 100+ mph gusts. Huge trees down everywhere, especially Winter Park. Power out for weeks some places.
A tier:
- Irma/Ian/Milton - Gusts in the 70s maybe some rogue ones in the 80s. Ian flooded a lot of Orlando with 20 inches of rain. Not sure about Milton yet.

Now we all know the storm rapidly declined. I’ve read that intensifying storms are more robust so I guess that a cat 3 declining is better than a cat 2 intensifying? It seems do, but I’m just speculating.
Yeah this is true, intensifying storms absolutely pack more of a punch than weakening storms. I think strengthening storms are able to get max wind gusts down to the surface. So even if flight level winds are measured the same a weakening storm will not see those winds at ground level.

Wild that roof held that dumpster.
They just interviewed the next door neighbor and he said the people with the dumpster on the roof moved into that house six days ago. Damn

Anyone hear anything about Orlando Airport?

MCO says there's no time-frame on reopening. I imagine they open back up tonight/tomorrow morning to clean up and get going.

They’re apparently open as a friend from back home is flying to Orlando today. We may drive down and see them but we just went to Orlando last week when the brother in law was there.

It was on the east coast so yes, it was a tornado.

I wonder how one repairs that.
Dirt.
Or water and turn it into a pool.

Yeah I had one down the street from me that was about the size of a small dumpster. They just marked it off for a couple of weeks to make sure it wasn't going to get worse, and then filled it in with dirt and let it sit a couple of weeks, then moved on with life.

That's why I asked if it was from limestone or a drainage structure. The majority of these I see are from pipes that have failed or poor connections at drainage structures. They are pretty easy to repair. if it is limestone bedrock it is more difficult. It generally consists of several layers of bentonite clay/geotextile/

How does Miami keep dodging major storms
Same reason Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Tallahassee and Gainesville dodge big storms, and Orlando escapes mostly in decent shape. They vote the proper way

At least the first roll-off dumpster for the remodel is free.

Anyone saw any update from Anna Maria? It’s one of the few old Florida beach places left, I know they got damage last week with Helene. Haven’t saw much with Milton on the area
