And it’s top loaded - west and south is sheared

Sally was completely top loaded. It had a wicked looking northern semi circle eyewall with a completely exposed southern semi circle on radar as it made landfall.

This one looks to have a bigger eyewall but the southeastern quadrant of the center seems to be completely exposed at landfall (per the latest hurricane models at least)

I think NHC is going to have to issue an interim updated advisory increasing winds.

yeah an average of 115 knots supports an upgrade, but they may hold off if they’re expecting it to lose some strength soon

Announcing a Cat 4 can cause a lot of panic without much time to do anything about it.

She can go east on 98 all the way to Panama City, but the Mid-Bay Bridge is still open.
Thanks. Texting her this now.

Of course the plane to pick up these massive readings is Air Force not NOAA so there’s no Tail Doppler Radar to verify what’s actually going on down below.

Those that go to the beach around here, aren't there higher dunes along the beachfront?

Sally was also crawling, practically stalled before turning north.

Wind starting to pick up slightly in Tuscaloosa. Tropical storm warning with the worst of it coming between 1-7 am.

Got a butt on the smoker and the porch locked down.

Sally didn’t have a cold front of this strength to corral it and force it Eastward as this one does.

Been saying for over a day now thst this one was going to drift East as it came in and hit somewhere from Destin to PCB

30 A may be known as 30 B after this…

The current trajectory sure looks like it’s already headed straight north with a possible late N-NW turn at landfall. I don’t think it’s gonna make it all the way east to Destin. Straight at pcola

That's way early. How strong is the wind right now there?
