Are you kidding me right now! Pensacola Beach, Florida
I'm on the coast a few hour drive east of Pensacola, and it was raining buckets at sunset.
Nobody in the rural coastal area where I live gives a damn about this storm. But at the Walmart inland, in the closest thing to a city we have, it was panic buying and businesses shutting down. Just insane. We've had some hurricane damage several times recently, but this one won't be another. And as usual, it's the people safely inland that are losing their minds.

May be a dumb question but what effect/affect/impact does a weakening storm have on storm surge as the storm nears landfall?
It probably won't make a whole lot of difference given how close to landfall it could be when that rapid weakening would occur. All that energy has to go somewhere.

I’m not going to pretend to know the complexities of that, but when a hurricane weaken the wind field actually expands so that’s something to note.

GoogleAI seems to have tweaked this a bit more east, landing in Navarre.
It seems to think it’ll flirt with cat 3 a bit before shear takes back over

Isaias is probably having its best run so far, and there is no recon to be found
Always...
Seriously, when can we get like 10 drones to circle the eyewall 24/7?

If anyone else here is in the area, please be safe. If you need a hot meal, we’ll see you Saturday morning.
And starting Sunday we should be somewhere helping with meals. May go back to Lillian AL… that’s where we got our start (with Sally).
Lots of changes since then. We plan to leave Tuscaloosa early Sunday. Still not certain where we go since we need to know where most need is.
Insert: coach O “we comin”.

Where did you see that, please. There is no way. PCB gets worse that that in summer storms

But this track is within the original cone…which is how it works

That tends to happen as the cone shrinks.

Imo some people are gonna wake up tomorrow to an oh shite moment.
That being said, every model out there makes it look like he hits a brick wall once he comes onshore, so the damage will be isolated, but whereever he lands is gonna make people wish they had left.
I was fully committed to riding this thing out. Now you are making me think about things.
