The purple line near the eye suddenly jumps NE a little.
I don't think it means anything.
Probably just a glitch but I have to ask.

I'm thinking the track was slightly changed. It's still a good way for us to see the forecast track versus storm movement a little more clearly ... in my opinion anyway .

Been watching football all day. Is this storm still as catastrophic as they are saying? Is it weakening any?

Did you see the Snapchat at Key West of the sailboat out at sea? The guy goes "this is number 4...people don't know how to properly tie their boats up"

Methinks these people might just be looking for an insurance check.

Looks like it took a little dip south too.

It does look like it went south a tick in the last loop I looked at too.

Crazy how the storm surge is already moving in and the hurricane isn't supposed to make landfall for a very, very long time.

It's not easy to get boat insurance for hull, etc. replacement. OFten you can't get it for any deep/blue water boating and if your boat is more than a certain age, it becomes hard to insure without a full inspection by a certified inspector each year. That those two boats were poorly tied is real close to negligence when that wasn't the result of a marina collapse. (See the boats still tied up in the cam from downtown Key West.)

Maximum winds are down substantially, but forecast to go back up to 140 mph before landfall. The wind field has expanded and hurricane force winds extend 70 miles to the east of Irma, so a brush along the coast will still bring widespread damage to southern Florida.

There are currently 76k customers in Florida without power and the storm is nearly 24 hours from Naples, FL still.

I'm not suggesting these people were smart.

If Irma goes through the front, it will be game on anywhere because it will have defied the laws of nature.
