What jackassery? Go frick yourself.
A day ago the models had Irma skirting the east coast. Today it has her skirting the west coast. That's a significant shift worth noting...enough that it took one major city somewhat out of the bullseye and put another city in it. That is hardly a 10 mile shift. You're the one being an a-hole on here

Obviously, you're in the car, but can you tell any of the gas situation, if any gas stations still had it? Some are wanting to leave Ft. Myers now.

About 25 mph average - guess it could have been worse but that's not terrible

Florida is f'ed unfortunately, early models nearly the whole state was on the west side and now the whole peninsula is on east side which will result in way more damage to the highly populated areas.

The overseas hwy will probably be in bad shape for a while.

Any time anyone here dared to question the north turn, they were quickly shown images and graphs and comments like "for the thousandth time" here's why it's gonna go right up the peninsula.... along with eye rolling emojis etc.
Prime example, look about 3 or 4 posts up from this with the "idiots" that say shifting west.
I was nearly called to Sonic last night

Yes, the models originally showed Irma would go up the east coast several days ago, which made me question the predictions.

For at least the last day and a half, the NHC has talked about how large the storm is. The eye can pass anywhere in the cone. The effects can be a ways outside the cone considering the size of the storm.

noticing "shifted"" is the ultimate trigger word in this thread.
No shite. Apparently pointing out facts makes me a jackass.

You know, even despite the whole Avi crap you give me, I have to say that you really are good at this whole meteorology subject. I have gotten nearly all of my storm info from here instead of the news. They seemed to be more interested in sensationalizing this situation instead of actually focusing on strictly the facts. So to you and the others who have consistently updated us on this and other storms, thank you.

The shift is all within the cone of possibility though. It's always been in the area they though it could be. If it was all of the sudden tracked to go into houston, that would be cause for concern.

How much wind/water can a bridge withstand before it topples ?
Earlier I was reading there are 42 bridges between Key West and mainland Florida

If it hits west side of Florida and goes on those northward tracks all are going to feel it pretty much. Seems like that's worst case scenario track for Florida. Only thing that would be worse would probably be skirting west side coast then hitting panhandle then hitting either georgia/bama fairly hard. Let's not see it do that. Unfortunately, someone just has to take one for the team.

No shite.
This kind of stuff is why the NHC only does a 5 day forecast - the current limit of their skill. Meanwhile, Billy Bob sees a 240 hour forecast from the Euro and gets mad when things have changed 5 days later.

I said it last night and the po-po up in here. I think it's better to say "hugging the western most part of the cone". The cone is gold.
