You're correct, but he's basically saying he is making his decision to evacuate or not for a Cat 5 storm on this.

Irma won't be cat 5 when it gets to Jacksonville. It will be cat 3 around 120 when it gets there if it stays offshore. And the strongest winds will be in a narrow band offshore. Even weaker if it comes straight up the peninsula.

Sure, but the other Jacksonville poster is talking about it like it's just another Thursday at work tomorrow.

Well I am fully prepared and packed to evacuate if we decide to do that. So yea, it basically is. I'm not running around last minute trying to get my shite together because it's already together.

Message from Jacksonville Sheriff Dept....
quote:

As of 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 the City of Jacksonville is declared a state of emergency. This gives the city access to funds and resources to things needed can get handled quickly.
**EVACUATIONS**
- Zones A and B need to prepare to leave.
- If you have the ability to leave now, that is the best thing to do.
- Everyone from the South is trying to evacuate as well. Roads are going to be clogged.
- Don't wait until Friday. I75, I10, and I95N could be at 10 mph.
- If you are evacuating you need to go anywhere north and west of Jacksonville.
- All Duval County Public Schools will have early dismissal Thursday 9/7 and closed Friday 9/8.
- Shelters will be announced soon and plan to be opened on Friday.

I think The Boat needs to call and tell them to relax...Jacksonville will be fine

Think of it like car crash impact ratings. Sure you can have a Volvo that can take a huge crash, but do you really want to test it out against a good ole baw's f250 with truck nuts swinging?

Holy frick. You just compared a cat 5 hurricane to some good ole boys truck nut swinging super duty.

Your jimmies sure are rustled that Jacksonville won't be destroyed.

And it's a good call to evacuate zones A and B. They will be threatened by storm surge.

If you continue that it shows Jacksonville would get about 50 mph winds.

All he's saying is that the shape of the coastline helps protect Jax. It's not some impossible forecast he's making. Y'all suck at reading comprehension.
Nope, he said every computer model is wrong but

Of course, they want to hang on to GOM viewers as long as possible.
