Yeah we laughed at Matthew for the most part. This one seems a bit more brutal

Well I'll say this. The anxiety level on this board is about 180 notches higher than down here. Everyone down here just working to get everything secure and safe before entertaining any plans of leaving.
fricking this.
Everyone here in the jax area just going about their business, working, hanging out. Preparing, but not freaking out or panicking. Most have work tomorrow just like any other day. Starting tomorrow, once we know more about the storms path, it will be time to make some real decisions but for now, it's just another day.

Will the gay serial down voter please just identify yourself as a complete phag?
Just told my Miami buddy that NOAA lab is bugging out there and to GTFO ASAP.
They are leaving tonight. Damn it.

Those words are pretty much utterly meaningless when talking about winds in excess of 150 mph.

NOAA lab in Miami, FL just closed at 3 EST for the rest of the week and telling their employees to evacuate.
This probably speaks for itself as to where NOAA thinks the Hurricane is going to strike.

The "Houston" approach

Work is closing down Friday. It's a paid day off for me which is awesome. The storm won't be here until Monday, but of course it's too late to leave at that point

Our school is still planning on playing HS football game tomorrow evening.
I doubt that happens though. That other team is coming from near Tally. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Said it earlier in the thread, Navy was calling this path days ago.

That's easy to say in hindsight but I think a couple things contribute to that.
We hadn't had a real scare in 12 years until Matthew. Close calls but no real scares so people didn't take it seriously and it ended up not being ALL that bad, overall.
Secondly, Harvey has everyone on edge, and for good reason.
Again, let's not forget, Matthew was days away from the US also as a Cat 5, skirted S FL as a Cat 4, and remained a Cat 3 until somewhere around South Carolina. Irma's path looks a bit more of a direct hit, but again, we are still days away and a lot could happen.

If the eye stays in the Atlantic as she works her way north, this is going to get REALLY interesting!!!!

Is it Gorilla tape or that black "waterproof" stuff the guy who wears Billy Mays' shirt is hawking these days?

Interstates south of Tampa are ridiculous. Sat in bumper to bumper traffic for an hour. I can't imagine what it will be like tomorrow

sounds like Ryno who was arrogantly begging for rain from Harvey
then the storm hits.
he comes back on the board three days later, humbled and emotionally devastated
