Haven't seen this posted but looks like Branson chose to stay and ride this out at Necker. Probably not a good choice.

RIP to his plastic Wal-Mart lawn furniture there.

And he justifies it by referencing other Hurricanes, one of which was a tropical depression and hundreds of miles away when it was closest to the Virgin islands.

And the one that did hit them (Earl in 2010), was anywhere from 50 to 75 mph weaker. A 74 acre island is not where I would want to be with a 185 MPH hurricane coming right for it.

Could A Category 5 Hit New York?

Cliff notes: probably not.

This could be the beginning of a new "Blue Shed" story.

His buddy Obama should visit again and give him company during the storm.

Im pretty sure Bransons house is built to handle this

Yes, but if you've been by there in a boat you know Necker isn't a very tall island. I'd be more than a little concerned about surge and waves being on the north side of the eye. Not to mention it's going to be a fun few days waiting on transportation out of there. Even Branson's money can't overcome those logistics.

Yeah, and most structures are higher up on the island.

I doubt he's riding it out in the beach hammock or anything.

AF307 dropped a dropsonde in the center of the eye at 18.0 N 63.3 W

AF305 is now on its way to the storm. If it does an eye drop I'll post tose coordinates to compare and contrast

AF305's first drop in the eye was at 18.2 N 64.0 W

in ~3 hr 15 min, Irma moved +0.2 N +0.7 W

pressure was 923 mb in AF305's drop

Almost all of the BVI and USVI webcams are down. Great Expectations cam is starting to struggle and it's the only live one I can find.

Its hard to tell, they dont build houses like us. They'll pour the pilings, save some money, build the first floor, save some money and build the second floor..... That house could be under construction..... it could also be on its way to Puerto Rico too.

Good thing they taped the Xs on those windows. I guess they missed that one, though.
