Furbs, we moved to Bluffton last December. How bad is the flooding here?

This is awful. Poor islanders.
Jesus. That sound will haunt survivors for years.

That video was from about an hour ago. Imagine how powerful it is now

Friends in St. Kitts lost power around 2am. Cell service is in and out. One is holed up in the vet school. One in the highlands behind the mountain.
Said it got pretty bad for a while but most of the damage is to trees and small structure.

Same here. They seem to have gotten insanely lucky and missed some of the most intense winds.
As of a few hours ago they still had power.

I live in Bluffton as well. Matthew was our first big storm since moving here and flooding wasn't too bad outside of places right next to water and typical flash flooding like you see on 278 after heavy rain. HHI flooded worse than we did. What surprised me was the amount of trees that fell for a cat 1 storm. Don't want to think about what a bigger storm like this one could do

Am I being overly optimistic here that this thing took a pretty significant curve to the East in the last update? Will that trend continue? It seemed like a large jump from one update to the next.
Central Florida caller here - about 15 miles from Disney.

Yes you are. Its a long ways off and the cone is still very wide. Id hold expectations until about Friday night.

That looks like something straight out of hell. There will be nothing left on the island.

I have beeb quite surprised with the number of central Florida posters coming out over the last couple of days.
That said, I have the same concern about my optimism.

Looks like someone has a pressure washer on their balcony

It's early but ABS TV in Barbuda is reporting structural damage but anchors say there are no casualties to this point.

How the hell can any wildlife be left on any of these islands. Seems all birds would be gone in an instant.
