Didnt the Euro runs from late last week put Irma in the GOM west of Tampa?

Yes, but it got there differently.

Wouldn't yall agree that outside of the obvious NOLA impact of a more westward shift that if Irma follows the current track and then draws north is absolutely the worst case scenario?

You would have the fricking Atlantic going into Miami on top of the winds.

So, then by your own admission, one should not "expect" the pull North...as that is not called for in the current 5-day forecast. Therefore, if people along the FL panhandle/AL/MS/LA coasts want to freak out just a little, then they should be able to do so at this point.

One thing that irks me on here are the opposite of the doomsday crew people. If some want to prepare for the absolute fricking worst case imaginable...then let them, as it sure as shite beats the opposite

People can worry as much as they'd like, but there are more than a few posts in this thread over the last 24 hours that border along fear mongering and wish casting. As weird as it may be, many folks on here like to use this thread as their information source, and it doesn't help when people are looking at old, outdated images, model runs that are 7-8 days out, etc. If you're going to worry about a model a week out, you should have the proper context for that worry.

It is all about context, and quite a few posts in this thread lack the proper context.

My son is in school in the St Petersburg area. He said the stores have already been bought out of most supplies. They are taking it very seriously. If it were not for the trough I'd be very worried. I am concerned but think the track of the storm will stay east of SELA. The pan handle of Florida needs to be preparing too.

Since it looks like its shifting west, if you're in south beach would you evacuate? I have a flight scheduled for tomorrow at 2:30 PM but Id rather stay if its not gonna be horrible here. Im in a really big, safe building, but its ocean front. It keeps shifting west, would you leave?

You don't say...

Okay, but you are living and dying on the models...which are not 100%. I mean, Hell, even they have to give themselves a cone for +/- accuracy. While some here are new to this...there are a lot of people here that are not, and they've seen hurricanes outsmart models many times, so maybe cut some of them some slack when they don't want to buy model context.

I have a lady friend having to fly down to Miami for work on the 11th. I told her she might have to rethink that.

He's going to need a little better shelter this time. He was fortunate this last time. Must see TV, however he's liable to lose his signal much faster in this one.

I don't know that Jeff will want to mess with the eyewall of this thing after what he went through with Harvey. After Mark Sudduth of HurricaneTrack.com went through the eyewall of Charley in 2004, I think he decided against ever going through it again.

Notice 95L in the SW Gulf. NHC is up 70% on that but it should stay pinned down there so no need to bring that thread back t life. At one time, models were trying to bring it north.
