Probably. I didn’t even notice.

But I think you were saying that yesterday about Isaac. Weak now means better chance of hitting the gulf and beefing up?

From what I read here yesterday yes. Weak Isaac means not good.

I’ve noticed some of the south la posters like to turn hurricane season into a dick measuring contest. It happens every year. Anything that doesn’t hit the gulf gets downplayed into a pussy storm that they would’ve scoffed at.

You’re just jealous you don’t have a dick to measure

Oh eat a dick. I know how terrible even a small hurricane can be. I’ve lived through my share and have lost plenty. I’m more talking about the media’s sensationalizing of storms and weather events.

I think the hype is dangerous because of how unpredictable things are. Too much crying wolf.

If they call a storm “Ultrastorm Ursula” or whatever and then it doesn’t pan out as bad people get a false sense of security and don’t take the precautions or actions they should when the next come along

What would you rather them do? Downplay it and get people killed?

For the first 24 years I lived in Miami, it seemed like every potential hurricane was a flase alarm and it was just a great excuse to miss school or work and have a big party.

That all changed on August 24, 1992. But even the day before, plenty of people weren't taking Hurricane Andrew seriously.

How many of those posters flooded in 2016 from nothing other than a stalled rain storm?

, and started thread after thread asking why the national media wasn't talking about it more.

Now the media talks about Florence's threat for a week, 20-40" of rain are still expected, and they're already calling it a bust and overhyped.

ITT don’t take a hurricane seriously unless it’s 12 hours out, a category 5, and you live in Louisiana

Fox News home page has the main picture of a fallen BP structure.

Please tell me this is the same structure everyone was watching on live stream last night.

Looks like a little bitch right now. Down to a depression. From what I understand, this makes it easier for it to go in the gulf and streghten back up. Looks like 3 models have it strengthening to a hurricane with 1 being cat 2.

Uhh no. The gfs and euro have it dissipating and Canadian has it hitting LA as a weak TS

Neither GFS or ECMWF have Issac doing anything. Am I missing something?

All the hype is is what the media regurgitates from the NHC.

So blame the NHC.

Yeah man they totally should’ve just said it was no big deal. They definitely knew it would weaken before landfall. Never mind that it’s stalled and pouring down inches and inches of rain and flooding. That doesn’t fit your media overhype narrative.

It’s a week out from even possibly hitting the gulf, but you’re talking in certainties.

Morehead and Wilimington will need a lot of help after this is all said and done.

New Bern looks okay in some part, bad in others.

This event is only 24hr in though.
