Average elevation of the island is 5'. High points are barely more than 10' above sea level. Ocracoke Island is also where Blackbeard was killed, fun fact of the day. Well, fact. Might not be fun.
When we were in the OBX in 2014, there was a pen just south of the Okracoke ferry landing that held four of five of the wild Banker ponies; they still run wild up north, like Corolla and Duck, but they have been removed from the areas with the roads, so they keep a few penned up for folks to see. I wonder if they evacuated them?

I love it when people post stuff like this. Always amazing and terrifying to watch it at the same time.

Frying Pan cam getting real intense

Yeah, I started watching about 30 minutes ago. The conditions were much better, with occasional peaks for a few seconds.

Now those peaks are the constant, and it seems to be getting worse by the minute.

The live stream might be off line soon.

I've got family in NC, I'd be more worried about the people in the mountains with all the rain than the coast.

That's not much worse than a summer thunderstorm when you think about it.

Much ado over nothing.

pretty good trolling going on on the wunderground blog. Lots of people freaking out about comments like yours. The melodrama on that blog is amazing.
